The ATLIN Card Scrapers are a must have for any woodworker who is ready to take their finishes to the next level. Cabinet scrapers are a faster, quieter, and cleaner alternative to sandpaper while also having the benefit of never causing tear-out and delivering a significantly smoother, glass-like finish on your work piece. The ATLIN wood scrapers can be used for a variety of tasks, such as leveling inlays, removing burls and tool marks, smoothing lacquer, flattening rough spots, along with removing paint, varnish, wood glue, filler, epoxy, and more. Also Included with this card scraper set is a full page of detailed and illustrated instructions which will teach you how to use and burnish a woodworking scraper. Are these pre-sharpened? Typically, woodworking scrapers do not leave the factory with a perfect burr because it is a process which must be done by hand, and it is impossible to ensure the microscopic burr will survive shipping. The ATLIN profile scrapers will arrive with a rough burr straight out of the packaging, and while they can be used, sharpening is highly recommended before putting them to use. If you do not burnish before use, it is possible to gouge your work surface. How do I maintain these? Eventually the burr will have to be reworked. To do this you will need a file, a burnisher, and a sharpening stone. These are NOT included. Our instructions describe the maintenance in great detail.
