It is easier now to switch on and off the lamp
The media could not be loaded. This round for the switch is held for my lamb because I can switch it on and off easier and for this process I just have to press with my foot on it. I like the fact that I don't have to use my hands which is great especially when I carry something and I just want to sit on the sofa. And asked my good friend who is electrician to install these ever since they work properly and they are easy to use. When you I come in my room with my hands full of books or snacks I can easily step on the switch to turn the light on over when I sit on the sofa and I don't want to get up I just turn off the lamp again by pressing on this switch. Even though it is a small thing but it makes a difference because I can operate my land much easier and it is very convenient.

Change in connections - need soldering
This was on paper a direct replacement for the foot switch on a reading lamp.Same design, colour and internals. But the old switch had "push-fit" connections for the live. The new switch needs soldering - if you can not solder do not buy.Did not see anything obvious that says you must solder the connections.

The connections have to be soldered
Bought so my Mother in Law did not have to bend to turn off lightUnfortunately the inside connections have to be soldered they are not screw type which is what you would expect, easy to do if you have a soldering iron handy, which I didn't at the time.So be warned.

Whoa Hold On
Oh dear.In line with a few other reviewers I would not recommend these for the normal person as they are bordering on the dangerous side with the wiring. The picture they show with the live wire just wrapped around the terminal should start alarm bells ringing. If you are going to use this switch secure the wires with a small screw or solder them, even better if you have a crimper with some spade terminals for gawds sake use that, do not just wrap them around as shown. They just arrive as a bag of bits that you have to assemble, way to go. Once assembled they do in operation have a sturdy click. The switch itself has no voltage rating on it, they say 50-440 Volts !! Now even if heavily intoxicated there is no way on this planet or any other for that matter that I would even dream of putting over 400 volts through this, that's 3 phase territory and if attempted you could well end up on another planet. I would also call the IP44 rating into question as well depending on what size of cable you have as a small cable will leave a gap around where the cable enters and exits the switch, the size of cable will also have an impact on the effectiveness of the cable grip. All in all if you know what you are doing and want a cheap footswitch then at £7.35 for 2 (At time of review) go for it. If not then I would leave well alone. You get what you pay for.

These are good also for old the lamps
The media could not be loaded. I have it the bedroom to old model lamps and it was very annoying that I had to put my hand at the back of the furniture in order to switch the socket off because the Limestone have designated button and for this reason I have decided that it might be an option to get these footswitch and I'm glad that I did it because in the back there are two and the installation process was literally very simple because I just had to connect to the cables and then attach the rest of the accessories and basically the whole process took me like 10 minutes for each lamp.In terms of functionality these work as they should, keep them on the floor and with my foot I can switch on and off the light and so far everything is ok with this product.

Need a soldering iron!
Complete rubbish, poor quality AND you need a soldering iron to terminate the wires.

Simple and easy retrofit to have a foot switch on your lamp
The media could not be loaded. The DoRight retrofit foot switch kit is a really good idea and something that I never even considered until I seen their kits. The kit allows you to put a foot switch on to any existing household lamp, all you need is really basic electrical skills and you'll be able to fit it no problem. Instructions are simple and easy to follow, switch is good quality and easy to use and value for money is excellent.
