We live in the mountains and have bears that pay visits a couple times each spring and autumn season. We believe this lock could prevent them from entering completly or at least long enough for us to take some sort protective action. (like escaping out the backdoor!) We installed them on all exterior doors. Easy to install and affordable. Highly recommend this item for anyone living alone and for homeowners experiencing what is being called "trending", -front doors being kicked in by teens daring other teens to do so. If that there isn't a call for parents to help their children find constructive activities and to be more disciplined in right thinking. Kicking in a front door is dangerous for the kicker if the homeowner is armed. The right to protect and defend ones home is still an American's right. This lock can be a warning.
