Q: Can this be ducks? Would I need to add anything else like Brewer’s yeast?

According to Purina's website it can be fed to female ducks throughout the laying season (as can their gamebird Layena formula) but it's best to switch back to either Duck Feed or All Flock Raiser while they're not laying.

Q: Is this all I need for food?

Assuming that you are feeding this to laying hens or pullets over 18 weeks old, the Layena products are a complete and balanced diet that do not need any supplementation. If you have chicks or a mixed flock of birds, there are other feed options that would work better.

Q: Should I still at grit for my hens with this diet?

Yes. Grit of some sort should be offered with most chicken feeds although you do not have to rely on store-bought grit to offer your flock. Whatever they might dirt bathe in can offer grit as well as if they are free-range birds (they'll find their own). You also do not need any added calcium with this feed... BUT ... fair warning, during hotter months, laying hens do better with Chick Starter Feed due to the higher protein content and, weather you switch the feed in the summer or not, free-choice calcium is a great idea (ground oyster shells can be bought or feed them back their egg shells). Pullets will begin laying eggs between 20-24 weeks of age depending on the breed. Feed doesn't necessarily make them lay eggs, but when they have a complete and balanced diet from this premium feed as well as additional oyster shell built into the feed, you will get more eggs, feed less, and have healthier chickens and better quality eggs.

Get it cheaper at Tractor Supply

My hens love the Layena crumbles, but I found out that I can get it much cheaper at Tractor Supply feed store. That’s the reason I gave it 3 stars. Too high priced on Amazon.
