Excellent
This is a well made bit of kit. However whilst it fitted my Nikon J1 5 and my Tamaron lense I was not able to get a decent picture. I suspect if it had been a Nikon lense all would have been well. Alas it had to go back.

No communication between camera and lens through the adapter
There is nothing wrong with the adapter itself but a word of caution before thinking that you can use your lens from your Nikon DSLR on the Nikon1.First you need to consider that the adapter does not provide a communication between the camera and the lens. AND the Nikon lenses mostly DON'T have the possibility to manually change the aperture - meaning that you will be stuck with an aperture at F16 for example or whatever the smallest one of your lens is. Which kind of defeats the purpose of it all. With an aperture at F16 you are forced to maximise the shutter speed and even crank up the ISO in broad sunshine. Simply useless at times.

Four Stars
Does what it says on the box. I can now attach 300mm lens and take photos manually.

Does what is says.
Does just what it says - allows me to use my DSLR lenses on my Nikon 1 in manual mode.

OK - so everyone else thinks that this adaptor is ...
OK - so everyone else thinks that this adaptor is fabulous so maybe the one I got was a dud, or I was doing something wrong but... it didn't work... at all... no matter what I did. Perhaps part of the problem is the lack of ANY instructions. I was expecting to go manual with the settings so was a bit patient when none of the images actually appeared but - nothing, nada, total blank! If I'd had something to tell me how it worked I might have seen some results. No hassle refund though.

Only a manual connection -not useful with modern Nikon lenses
K&F make some very good products and this one is of quality construction for sales price of £10-20. It effectively allows you to join a standard Nikon lens designed for a DSLR to the Nikon J/V series range of bodies.I'd noted in other reviews that this is a physical connection only no electronic connections and was happy that it was going to be manual focus etc. However what I did not appreciate is that a current Nikon lens has no aperture ring, you can only control it manually and importantly the default position is closed down. So my Sigma fit zoom lens up to 200mm is a 2.8 max aperture but at the other end its F22 and this is what you get when you attach it to a Nikon 1 with this adapter ring. As I'm mostly shooting in poor light and with a long lens want a high shutter speed this adapter is no good for me. (I think Canon lenses may be default open at max aperture so the different fit product could be ok). So this will give me an excuse to look in second hand shops for old lens but for the J5 I've bought the Nikon FT1 adapter which is currently x19 the price of the K&F adapter but keeps the electrical connection. Its not perfect either does not have the full functionality of a Nikon 1 lens on the J series body.

Nikon to Nikon 1 adaptor
Good item to enable Nikon One to use Nikon lenses from my 3100 camera. Must use manual settings of course as this does not cover electronics

Manual aperture lenses only!
The adapter itself seems pretty good, well made, fits well and works just fine on the one manual lens I own. However on all the other lenses I own that do not have a manual aperture ring it's basically useless! It stops down to the maximum aperture and the little Nikon 1 can't handle hi ISO very well, so unless it's on a tripod shooting landscapes or even night sky shots then forget it.
