Q: Has anyone used these whilst exercising and, if so, how supportive and comfortable are they please?

Depends on the type of exercise. It was quite uncomfortable for me at work having to crouch or kneel and getting in/out of vehicles on daily basis that I had to swap it for a simple knee strap

Q: Does this brace restrict sideways movement/twisting of the knee?

This brace does help prevents the knee being bent backwards and also from left to right due to the hinges.. As for twisting, although it helps quite a bit, it won’t prevent it completely as the main resistance for this rotational movement is in the strapping that is really designed to help the fit on your leg. It’s a really great knee brace for the price.
