Was the perfect oil change kit for my Kohler 12RESV. Refill was just less than the full two quarts.Pour new oil in the new oil filter up to the threads and let it soak into the filter for about five minutes before putting it on.

Many people use other brands of synthetic oil in their Kohler generators. However, other brands (however good), are manufactured for modern automobile engines, and they no longer contain zinc (zinc is damaging to catalytic converters). Older engines required zinc to avoid damage to their cam shafts and other internal parts. Newer alloys are used in modern engines that do not require zinc for protection. The engines used in Kohler generators are still manufactured like the older automobile engines were, with older alloys, and do require zinc to avoid premature wear. This oil (which contains zinc) is not inexpensive, but is needed if you want your engine to last as long as possible).

Give this four stars because definitely overpriced but it is quality I guess

Before I bought this oil for my Kohler whole-house backup power generator, I asked myself, "What would be better than to use the oil recommended for its engine by the manufacturer?" Since I want to have long and dependable service from my generator and to preserve its ten-year factory warranty, I use this oil and change it (and the Kohler oil filter) at the recommended intervals. I'm also using this oil in my zero-turn lawnmower, which also uses a Kohler engine and have been happy with its performance.

I purchased for use in my Kohler water cooled generator. I purchased Kohler oil to avoid any question about voiding my Kohler warranty. The oil seems to be high quality oil.

I have been using this lubricant for routine oil changes since I bought my Kohler generator. Does the job and it is recommended by the manufacturer. I am satisfied with its performance.

Two quarts of oil....? Way over priced.
