While this item arrived with no instructions, I've had enough experience with self-covering buttons to figure it out. My favorite part of this kit is the included silicone set tools. A few taps with a rubber mallet and your button is made. The metal tools I'm used to make it too easy to ruin the button blank if you tap a little too hard. These aren't your grandmothers steel button blanks, but they will work well for many projects. Out of the pack of 100, only one was imperfect, and none were snapped, broken, or dented while covering them with fabric (I made 80 buttons).

I used these to make buttons for an outdoor cushion and they turned out great! Great size and really sturdy.

These are not good for heavy fabric at all. They fall right apart when the fabric has any thickness whatsoever. Will not hold together. Backs and centers are easily bent. I have thrown away more than I have been able to use.

Set the button on top of the material on the wrong side of the material. Bring the material up over the edge of the button so it goes down inside about a quarter of an inch and a perfect circle match that description.

This kit would be fine for thin fabrics. Any tweeds or thicker fabrics, I say pass.

Worth the money!

I thought I’d save a few bucks and order these button covers instead of the ones on Amazon made in the USA I’ve ordered before. These were terrible. They do not hold together and just crumble when you try to use them. Save the trouble and order the better ones.
