KINGRACK Folding 5-Step Ladder with Tool Tray & Safety Handrails
Hands up all those who have enjoyed trying to fit something high up, whilst wobbling on a chair or stool, with nothing to hold on to, whilst holding tools, and whilst also trying to fit or paint the thing? Yes, me too.The KINGRACK 5-Step unit seems to offer a safe solution to the above scenario.Firstly, please note that I have bought these steps with my own money, and have no links to either the Seller or to the Manufacturer.KEY ADVANTAGES:Unquestionably it is the 5-Step height, combined with Handrails and a Top Bar, plus a Folding Tool Table that will make these very handy to have around the house. The Steps are stable, have wide rubber feet, wide steps, and will allow safe access to height, with the ability to have parts and tools on the table, to leave both hands free to do the work required. Be that task fitting, say, a ceiling light, painting the ceiling, or cleaning areas otherwise hard to get at, such as Picture Rails or the tops of Kitchen Units.I pondered a number of different Step models, and realised that all of the shorter ones were only marginally better than using a Stool or Chair. Then I looked at the 4-Step units, and ones with, or without Handrails and/or Folding Tables, and realised that these 5-Step units had absolutely everything I wanted.GENERAL OBSERVATIONS:The Steps arrive in a box, mostly pre-assembled sufficient to use straight out of the box, with just the Handrails and Folding Tool Tray & Upper Bar Unit still to fit.The Instructions are a little small, I'd suggest these should be at a larger scale, even if it means an extra sheet of A4 paper. But, with Reading Glasses, I could see what was what. The Steps came with an Installation Kit for the Handrails and Folding Tool Table unit, with a complete spare set of items for the Allen Head Bolts, Metal Washers, Plastic Bushes, Internally Threaded Pins and Allen Keys. So, even if you contrive to drop one, and it rolls under the sofa never to be seen again, you should have a spare. The Steps are metal NOT alloy and, whilst not lightweight, they seem strong, and are certainly not too heavy to move around the home. My wife has no problem with them. These look perfect for home DIY use, but they are NOT likely to be robust enough or suitable for Trade use, as they won't withstand being thrown into the back of a van several times a day, bashed with tins of paint, or climbed several times an hour all year. However, that said, these are not £400, as heavy duty Trade Steps would cost. For the price (around £85 to £110 depending on discount), they are very acceptable and sufficiently robust to probably last many years on the basis of occasional home use when needed. They would be fine for decorating a whole house for example, they are not flimsy at all, but they are not the bomb proof heavy duty alloy units a tradesman would use for long term daily work.ASSEMBLY:I stress all that needs to be assembled is the attachment of the Handrails and the Folding Tool Tray & Upper Bar unit. Indeed, you could omit both, but obviously the unit is better with them added, as is intended. The Instructions are OK, but do read them. The top images show the general assembly, the lower ones show the detail of which part goes where, and in what order. This is important, as the Plastic Bushes need to go in the correct order, for example, so that the Folding Table folds in and out smoothly.Worth noting that the Folding Table section is also partly assembled, and may seem that the two main pre-fitted Bolts and Nuts are loose, which is actually intentional. The Nuts are Nylock, so have been assembled as far as necessary, so that the Table can slide on the related runner and lock into, and out of position, when the Steps are un-folded or re-folded. Do NOT be tempted to tighten those two Bolts & Nuts any further, because they are correct as supplied. The Table and Upper Handle unit just slots into the main steps, and that is then secured by the shorter Inner Threaded Pins, with Washers on the Pins, and on the other side, the short threaded Allen Key Bolts inserted, and both are tightened using two Allen Key Tools (plus you get a 3rd Tool as a Spare). The Table has two lower support stay bars, and these attach to the main chassis with the longer Inner Threaded Pins, with the Plastic Bush next to the main Step Frame, then two more short Threaded Bolts insert into that, and are likewise tightened. The long vertical outer Handrails are perhaps the hardest to fit, as these are secured by the long Threaded Bolts, and those screw into Brass Threads recessed into the ends of both Handrails. Best tip is to fit these loosely initially, and make sure the Bolts have threaded correctly, so should initially tighten fine by hand. If very right, then start again, as you may have the Bolt cross-threaded. Keep adjusting until the top and bottom Bolts on both sides can be tightened initially by hand. Once definitely home and turning smoothly, then you can tighten with the Allen Keys, safe in the knowledge that the Bolts are going in straight. That's it, after that, the Steps are ready to use. Anyone can do this, but just plan the Assembly, stay logical, and take your time. Have a good look at my images, which may help to show how the Folding Table is fitted, which is perhaps not immediately obvious when you first go to fit it.NEGATIVES:Nothing really stands out, the Plastic Steps and Table will need to be treated sympathetically, and are unlikely to withstand careless man handling, or impacts from being dropped or hit. The plastic parts are fine for DIY use, so if you are sensible, they should all last many years. These Steps, when Folded, are wider than usual, as the Handrails do project out a few inches, so bear that in mind. Best would be to fit suitable hooks high enough up, and hang these high up on a wall, so they have a place to live, and are always readily accessible when you need them. Don't park them with a pile of other stuff in front of them, or else they won't be easy to use, when you need them. That's important, because these present a very safe way to work, so will work best if always readily accessible so that you DO use them, every time you need them. These are NOT for outdoor storage, because the steel will rust. So, whilst fine to do jobs outside, when the task is done, the Steps will need to be stored in doors or, in a dry Garage or Shed. I would also advise that you oil or grease the hinges after assembly, and then once a year to make sure everything unfolds and re-folds smoothly. Do that, and they'll always be ready for instant use, and should probably offer good service for many years.

3 step ladder
This 3 step ladder is a great buy at 42 quid, very well built and very sturdy and to my surprise NO ASSEMBLY REQUIRED, comes well packaged and completely ready for use. I think it must just be the larger sizes that needs assembly judging by other reviews. I'm no giant at 5ft 9in but i can easily reach my bungalow ceilings (which are a tad over 8ft) standing on step 2. These steps are not feather weight like some of the aluminium ones but worth the little extra weight for the strength, sturdiness and larger foot room. Still easy to manage unless you're very very weak or frail. Highly recommend.

Good Quality Sturdy Step Ladder
Very pleased with this step ladder. It’s solid and sturdy. Took just a few minutes to attach the upper section and the instructions were easy and necessary tools supplied. There’s a clever non-slip pad on the bottom of the legs that is angled giving a very sturdy frame. I took ages looking for a 4 pedal step ladder including in store and Internet. Hardly any stores have them on site and it’s tough choosing on the Internet so I’m chuffed that this choice worked out well.

Safe and super sturdy.
Fab sturdy ladder. I’m a lady of a certain age, recently widowed who’s found herself doing all the diy jobs my late husband made light work of. This bit of kit makes me feel safe while I take on these tasks for myself. So easy to assemble as well. Make a cuppa, sit and read instructions & off you go!

Safe, strong, great buy
Really strong, well made, sturdy and safe ladder. The handles are ideal, and the tray at the top is perfect for holding paint/tools. Its folding mechanism works really well also.It is heavy to move, but I’m happy to manage that in order to have such a strong and safe ladderReally pleased and would highly recommend

Excellent steps for loading roof box
I bought these to make it easier to pack my roof box. They are excellent and feel very sturdy and safe. While they are not the lightest '2 step' steps, they are really well built and I would recommend them.

Sturdy Strong Great Balance.
Very sturdy. Easy to assemble. I'm about 120kg, so struggle on inferior steps, and thus don't feel safe (medication and major surgery). These feel so sturdy I can stand near the top and get the job done without assistance...The flared legs provide a wider base than straight sided steps.
