Looks like a toy. It's not a toy. Don't let the look deceive you.
When I got this I took one look at it and thought it looked like a toy. I honestly was going to toss it into the trash and not even bother writing a review. But then I changed my mind and gave it a shot. I honestly don't know a lot about mixing music or other audio but gave it a shot.I found this to be very intuitive and easy to use. I liked all the different sound effects though it did take me a little time to figure out how best to make use of them all. The first thing I tried was just running a short recording with a single microphone source and attempt to add some affects. That turned out to be easy enough. Second thing I tried was mixing from a recording and adding voice over and with some affects and that was also easy enough to do.I cannot say that this produced high end professional results. It did not. but it did produce results that are suitable for voice and some sound affects work and mixing run of the mill sounds. But I would not recommend this for a professional studio music mixing. This is best suitable for inexpensive sound mixing on a budget where high fidelity is not required. I recommend this for anyone who wants to learn about sound mixing like me and for children say as young as about ten and as old as about 15 though that range may not fit your situation. A younger child might be able to figure out how to use this especially with adult assistance and it is very useful for training purposes.Considering the price I highly recommend this to learn on and to produce low to mid range fidelity, just not high fidelity. This will be suitable for most internet use by amateurs and students.

Small, but Feature Rich!
We were quite surprised when this arrived, on both sides of the equation: -- Surprised how SMALL it is in reality. It's only about (9" x 6"... quite tiny) -- Surprised by its RICH FEATURE SET for being so small and so "introductory"Plus there were some other things about the unit that were interestingly positiveAnd other traits that were quite underwhelming.First of all, they state going in that this is designed to be a KIDS' sound board... maybe to inspire learning about mixers and the basics of what can be connected how, and an interesting way to persistence at getting a sound stream tweaked from input to output by some of the various features here. Some of the most interesting FEATURES of the device are in how the input stream can undergo various transformations on its way to the output or "live" stream... i.e. -- Reverb and Envelope Incapsulation to simulate various sound venues like "concert hall", "recording studio", etc. -- EQ and range tweaks to alter core tenor of a voice... nudging it toward man, women or child overtones. -- Some karaoke and range masking features to simulate channel separation by frequency rangeAnd yet, there are also some pretty serious limitations to how effective these attempts can be to alter / tweak / mask / envelpe / boost the input stream on its way by.For instance: -- There are eleven SOUND EFFECT buttons here which allow inserting an effect sample into the stream, and yet... there is ZERO ability to adjust the LEVEL, TENOR or AMPLITUDE of the effect goung by. So you get to have it full-throated and exactly the same every press of the button. -- That lack of flexibility can easily and quickly get to be annoying right off, when you can't turn down the effect, or slow it down, or seamlessly loop it (like applause or laugter)... So it's just a tiny bit of some effects that become annoying quite quickly, and cannot themselves be tweaked or altered in any way. It's full-throated each time you press it, and there's no surpression possible. -- Although there are a toal of seven variable pots or sliders... they're not re-configurable, and as is, do not really do much useful. only ONE of them adjusts or affects the full stream, and only as a rudimentary volume control, almost nothing else. -- There's a Reverb pot, too, but it's rather anemic in what it can do or adjust. It's of very little use. -- Ther are THREE mic slider pots but they're really more like slight EQ adjustments of the mic stream rather than being truly useful -- From a pure COOL FACTOR, all the lights of various colors are quite impressive. But once you get down to actually digging into them, they're mostly not partiularly useful or even interesting.. They just "are"!However... even with all the "limitations" and shortcomingis of the system here, I'm only going to ding it a single start deduction, because let's face it: It's really not a bad price for an entry level mixer board. It definitely is capable of making a splash and getting kids interested in soundboard mixing. 4 Stars!!

It's a toy, seriously
If you want to teach children what a mixer does, it's cheap and you won't cry when they break it. The sounds are pretty.... Bad. I'm keeping mine for my grandkids to play with. A small Behringer or Alesis mixer gets you much better sound, and just use a smartphone for gag noises. The FX are very cheesy. But for the price, maybe that's expected.

Pretty much impossible to actually understand at first but very funny.
Part of me really wants to lay into the fact that the buttons have names that don't seem to correspond whatsoever to the sound they make. I also kind of want to lay into the fact that it's a little bit unreliable when it comes to pushing a button in the first place, sometimes you give it a really good push and it still doesn't work until the second try.But instead I'm just going to say that even with the mislabeled buttons (or at least they don't make sense) and the fact that the manual is in very broken language and doesn't actually specify much about what the sound effect buttons do, this is a blast to mess around with.I ended up using it for a live lowkey news thing that I do with a friend and it was our first time ever using it. Not just on the air that night but also in general. It actually made the whole thing a lot more entertaining that we constantly pushed the wrong button. We're not used to where the buttons are anyway so it took way too long to find the right button and push it when we DID have a reason to.Honestly that was so funny in the moment that I can kind of forgive all the other stuff and I'm looking forward to figuring out how to use it even better and for a lot of my videos now.

It's fun!!๐
The HOSABELY Sound Mixer is a beginner's dream! I am a beginner!๐ It's game! It's fun! I can't speak about it versus a professional mixer because this is my first of its kind. ๐However, it does work for me and I'm still exploring.
