Great deal if you can get it on sale. I was a little concerned when I heard that Craftsman tools were no longer made in the US, as I love all my older Craftsman stuff. But this set is great and I love the storage and trays which have some spare room for other sockets and extensions that I have accumulated over the years. No, it’s not a high end mechanics set but it’s well worth it for the average person looking to work on their cars or whatever. Would recommend it if you see it in sale.

With an upcoming hub/bearing assembly swap on 3 of the 4 wheels and new brakes on all four, I needed a new ratchet as my 28-year-old Craftsman 3/8" ratchet suffered a couple of rounded off teeth after years of use and abuse. Shopping around just for a ratchet, and wanting to also buy a 1/2" ratchet, the prices pushed me to start looking at larger/bundled kits. While I didn't really need all of the sockets and wrenches included in this kit, I couldn't beat the price, especially with the price reduction on this kit, which by the way is still full price at Lowes. I couldn't be happier with this kit, and it should well-serve any weekend warrior mechanic for years to come, as long as you don't abuse the tools. I added some adapters to the kit to allow use of the 1/2" drive with some of the 3/8" sockets, as the length of the 1/2" drive provides a little more leverage, finding that sweet spot when the 3/8" drive isn't enough and my 18" breaker bar is too much/doesn't fit in the tight spot. The plastic case, with the removeable trays/drawers keeps everything neat and tidy, easily identifying when something is missing. With my aging eyes, it was tough to see the raised numbering to identify the socket size, but this is easily addressed by coloring the raised numbering with a black Sharpie to make them contrast against the rest of the red tray. It was nice how the trays can be removed and stacked on top of the case for easy access. As mentioned above, I added adapters, but I also added a 6" 3/8" drive extension as the included extensions were too short to access the mounting bolts for the brake calipers and hub/bearing assemblies on my vehicle. The layout of the trays/drawers leaves plenty of space for these additions and probably a bit more. This kit paired with the Craftsman 1/2" impact driver, and the added adapters and extension, I was able to tackle the job easily and save myself a ton of money instead of paying the dealership or some other garage to do this. The only thing needed for the job that wasn't in this kit was a 32mm socket to remove the axel nuts, thankfully I was able to borrow one from a friend. Overall, this is a great kit and I highly recommend it, especially if it is $90 below regular price.

The first set I ordered, the quarter inch ratchet was defective. It did not ratchet in either direction just free spun. I returned for a replacement. I went through the next one more thoroughly and as you can see in the picture The 15 and 17 mm deep sockets were replaced with standard 9/16 and 1/2 sockets. I’m debating whether to return this one again. I also ordered another set and I’m waiting for it. I usually get a new craftsman set for each vehicle and sometimes I give them away as gifts. I’ve always loved them. I expect defects on occasion and replacement is always easy. However two sets in a row with a broken part and missing sockets on the next one is not good quality control. I rated it one star less because overall the sets are still great and the new case design is excellent.This set is probably the best design for the storage that they’ve come out with yet. All of the other previous cases are blow mold plastic and waste lots of space. This one, everything sits on extended plastic rails and leaves all the rest of the space open to use as a toolbox should. I also like that the majority of the sockets and such are raised up just off the bottom of the tray so that any moisture the case might collect won’t rust out your tools which happens if you tend to store them in a vehicle.I always wait to the sets go on sale and this one was $119 on sale. Well worth the money and a lifetime warranty. Top quality tools, easy replacement, and one of the best price points out there.

This was a fantastic tool set, so many tools for the price. Great quality Craftsman tools, I wasn't sure they still made them as good as the old days but these are very high quality tools. The tool box is a clever design, too; it keeps everything organized and easy to find.
