I bought this unit to update an older sedan (2007 TL.) It didn't come with navigation and the better option was to buy this unit with updated graphics and extra features.I was looking for a dash cam. And this unit fit the bill perfectly!The screen is clear, responsive, no lag like I experienced on another carplay screen.I was looking for a unit with auto brightnes. This one has it and is so effective I only had to adjust it twice in about 3 weeks.An added bonus that I found in the settings is you can turn the mic off! I thought that was cool.I had to contact customer service because I was unsure of the contents of my order. I found out I ordered the unit without the backup camera. They are going to mail it out for free. I just have to pay shipping! Another awesome feather in their cap. The response was fast and very friendly. The sound is great, connects with the Bluetooth fast and no delay!Happy with my purchase! Great product!

iPhone’s CarPlay (or Android Auto) is built into your phone. It puts very simplified versions of some of your phone’s apps on a larger touchscreen in your car and plays the audio through your car stereo. The RC14 is LAMTTO’s most recently revised and updated touchscreen. It can be set up by the average person in a few minutes (aside from running a wire for the optional backup camera which I didn’t order with my unit).After starting your car, the RC14 touchscreen automatically connects to both your phone and your car stereo (in 15 seconds on mine). After touching the CarPlay icon (or Android Auto) on the touchscreen, some of your phone’s icons appear. Things are easier to see and use on the touchscreen. CarPlay apps are very basic though and designed so you CAN’T do many things that may distract your driving like reading texts (unless a new text comes in). Siri (or Google Assistant) however can do many things for you. This includes getting directions using map apps, music apps, responding to and dictating a text, making phone calls, weather and others. The audio sent from my iPhone to the car stereo is very good and similar quality to what’s sent to BlueTooth earbuds.The RC14 has many other features including a full time recording front HD dash camera. It starts automatically, has a very clear wide view, and records full time when your car is running unless you remove the included 64GB TF card. The screen is bright and auto adjusts. It is high resolution for its size. It is a perfect compact size for my car but I can see map detail very clearly. I’m custom mounting it on a hinge in front of my car stereo and won’t be using the camera.I’m still trying to get used to the limited functionality of CarPlay apps, having to use my car stereo along with the touchscreen, talking to Siri, and understanding Apple’s configuration options. Also, moving each time through icons that I’ll never use is a chore since the menu system on the touchscreen is not at all customizable.OTHER TECHNICAL DETAILSThere are three options to connect the RC14 to your car stereo:-BlueTooth (if your car stereo has it, and mine doesn’t),-broadcasting to an unused station on your car radio (which works well for all apps except when using the phone callers hear an echo), or-plugging into your car stereo’s AUX plug; (my car stereo has one and it is what I use).Customer Support has been very helpful and provided a firmware update so the clock would update and also recommended a $9 noise isolator filter that removed static I initially had on the AUX plug of my vintage car.I just installed it this week so I’m sure there are many new things I will discover. Overall it is really nice to have more functionality (and music) added to my car even though it can take a lot of time figuring out how to use it all the same way I do on my phone.

Update:The vendor contacted me to resolve the issue and they were very apologetic.——I had consistent connection issue with the unit and requested warranty to the vendor that they have been avoiding providing the support with so many different reasons and they went dark at the end. Amazon was good enough to refund this purchase.If you want to purchase this, check the reviews and go with other brands.

I was except I am about my purchase. However, it was not what I expected. Waw…even after 9 months of usage, it is very responsive, fast and never lags. Connectivity is quick and recording is a plus as it automatically records 5 seconds after you power it on. I never knew I would be getting a CarPlay and dash cam at the same time. Video is of great quality. Touch screen is flawless, clear and very responsive. Compact size without taking up space or blocking your sight. I highly recommend this item. We’ll see how long it lasts.

I replaced the stock stereo head unit on my older car a few years back to add wireless CarPlay and Android Auto. It still works fine but it’s time for an upgrade. The stereo sits way too low on the center console. It’s a safety hazard to have to look down at the screen. So much can happen on the road in a blink of an eye.After reading the specs of several different ones, I decided to buy this one and it’s much better than my existing one. The higher resolution screen is brighter. There is noticeably way less lag when touching the screen. It boots up faster than my old unit too. The dashcam is one of the stronger selling points for me. The recordings are clear and the user interface makes it simple to use. Of the two mounts provided, I prefer the one with the extending arm. The suction mount on it has some glue which is perfect since my car’s dashboard has a texture that makes it hard to make a seal.Wireless Android Auto works fine with my phone. I do wish there was more vertical space on the screen though but that’s not a fault of the unit. It feels like Android Auto wastes a lot of screen space. I took a few calls with it and the MIC seems to work well.The included USB C cable is long but I didn’t test out the FM audio output since I used the AUX output. It does not work with my own USB C -> USB C cable on a USB C car charger but it does work with a USB A -> USB C cable though.I did contact customer service asking about a few different things. Support is good and fast. The unit has a 2.5mm AV-In jack so I asked a technical question to see if the unit supported AHD or CVBS. They were quick to respond and gave me the info I needed.
