As a military physician, I’m always looking for high yield resources to improve training for medics and corpsmen. This beautifully illustrated text is comprehensive and can benefit providers at any level of training. This is highly recommended! Well done, NYSORA!

Trying to hone my IV skills and now for pediatric patients too. This covered every patient population and more! -1 star bc I purchased the kindle version and the QR codes only take me to Amazon to purchase the book, no videos (even though it says they are included). :(

A more appropriate title for this book might be "Mastering IV access for beginners." For those who have been starting IVs for years and are hoping to find precious nuggets on how to handle their more difficult patients, look elsewhere. You will not find (m)any nuggets here.The authors cover vein anatomy, IV catheter sizes, tourniquets, steps involved in the IV cannulation, securing a cannula in almost excruciating detail with abundant prose. For any beginner, this is a helpful - if maybe needlessly - lengthy introduction to the subject. For the advanced practitioner, the bulk of the information presented borders on banal and conveys nothing new. Pictures are plenty, as are links to online video clips. As another reviewer pointed out, virtually all pictures/videos show light-skinned patients with easily visible veins. Again, the obvious intended reader/viewer being a beginner. What is missing are the videos of dark-skinned, morbidly obese patients, without any visible vein.Lastly, I was a bit surprised by the price, almost 90 USD, when I received this book: roughly 150 pages put us more in the "booklet" than "book" category. Many pages contain mostly large pictures. The authors self-published through NYSORA, thereby cutting out any third party publisher and foregoing the option of an independent editor.Thanks to Amazon's liberal return policy I decided to return my copy for a refund.

Quit basic. And there is no tip for dark skinned people at all. Tips for only light skinned people. Not really useful

This IV manual is a game-changer! As a newbie nurse, I used to stress about starting IVs, but this book made it so much easier. It's straightforward, easy to understand, and the pictures make it all click. Definitely boosted my confidence. If you're in healthcare, you need this book!

Just great! This manual has a potential to revolutionize training in IV access, phlebotomy and venipuncture. , I love Its emphasis on real-world application. And the videos accessaible through the QRC in the book are beyond awesome.
