Well-made but specialized-use dumbbell
This is a well-made and reasonably-priced partly-open spherical dumbbell that provides uniform weight distribution (and thus center of gravity) to prevent wrist torque. It has four alternative hand-holds around its outside so that you can use it like a medicine ball with handles. It's encased in a nice rubber coating (including the handle) to reduce the risk of injury if you hit yourself or the floor with it. Keep in mind that you are only getting one dumbbell, so if you need a pair the cost is twice as much.I think this dumbbell design, with the center of gravity near the center of your wrist to reduce wrist torque, is superior to typical dumbbell design with the weight mainly at the two ends. But, for most uses, I don't think the difference is significant enough to warrant buying an additional piece of equipment. One exception is weighted punches for boxing or martial arts practice, since the speed, volume of punches, and angle of punches could strain your wrists. If you're using this dumbbell for that, I'd start off with one of the lighter weights. The 10kg one that I have will mainly be used like a medicine ball with handles for reverse wood chops and other rotational exercises since I find I can do more reps with this than with a standard 20-lb. medicine ball without handles. The TRibe WOD Dark Elf Dumbbell and the Rogue Thompson Fatbell are similar ideas but are fully encased and don't have alternative handles on the outside. They also don't come in a lighter 2.5kg (5.5 lbs.) weight. The Dark Elf is square rather than round. TRX also makes a multi-grip Ybells, which are triangular and have outer handles. For aerobic exercise like running or steeping that involves high volumes, I use lighter hand weights like Egg Weights or steel balls that fit inside my hand and don't cause much wrist torque.

Different but in a good way
This dumbell/kettlebell was a little weird at first but I quickly adjusted to it and ended up really liking it. The weight almost feels lighter than what it's supposed to be, I'm guessing because it's so well balanced holding inside the weight rather than how you hold a traditional dumbell or kettlebell. The material is well made and feels like it will hold up to vigorous use. The handle is easy and comfortable to hold on to. And the compact size makes this a versatile and useful tool for different workouts. Be careful setting it down though, mine started rolling away and I had to chase it down lol.

A different take on a kettle bell that maybe isn't so awkward as a bottom heavy bell.
I got this to try and see if I liked kettle bell exercises any better using this than a traditional one. Some moves are easier, some are not, so it's a bit of a mixed bag. But, since I have both, it's easy to pick the right one for the right move and overall it's a plus. Thumbs up.

Great for home exercises!
Love the size and compactness of this dumbbell. Very easy to hide away when not in use.

Nice for warm up exercises
As the title states, it’s nice for warm-up exercises. I use it, mainly to warm up my shoulders and just twist them around in circles a few times get the blood flowing get a nice little pump going and then go straight to my shoulder routine. My hand fits in it really well. The grip is sturdy it’s made out of a very durable steel coated with a rubber Outer layer

Its All About the Shape
You would think 16 pound (or 20, 30, 40 pound....) weight is all the same but nothing could be further from the truth, which is why there are dumbbells, kettlebells, plates, macebells, etc. This spherebell is a great addition to the various weight form factors. It can simulate a number of other weights: dumbbell, kettlebell, medicine ball, and even plate. It's amazing how changing the placement of the weight in your hand, or hands, can make a difference. I would say there are many more ways to use the spherebell, than shown in the seller's pictures, because of all of the hand hold options.I highly recommend the sphereball.

Multifunction Medicine Ball
To call this a medicine ball is a bit of an understatement as you can also use it effectively as a kettlebell and as a dumbbell. You can practically complete a whole HIIT workout circuit with just this device which is great for compressing the delay of transitioning to different equipment. The k.d.m. weight is well made with an opening large enough to accommodate large hands, a handle that all hand sizes can grip and a comfortable rubberized coating on all visible surfaces. The branding and weight are clearly marked on the k.d.m. and the weight is accurate. No Cons here as this is a well designed, well executed, and well priced product.
