Perfect !
After a recommendation and research, I bought this safe. This safe is the perfect size for my values and important documents. I now have all that in one spot and it's light enough for me to lift when it was empty. It was easy to set the combination and I love that it has 2 other ways to open it in case of a dead battery.

Good for what it is...
This is a great safe to put in your bedroom to hold some things that you want to keep out of the reach of a toddler, or a smash and grab break in burglar. It is not going to be fireproof, or water proof at all. It is certainly not a high security safe that cannot be broken into. If you take some time to mount it to the wall, or floor it will do its job quite well. It looks decent enough to have out in your room. If you are looking for a true safe this is not the product you are looking for, but if you just want something you can use to keep kids, visitors and the smash and grab burglars out it will do the job. I use it next to the bed as a night stand and secure a smaller safe to the top with some bolts. I had no problem drilling some holes though it with a battery powered drill, for the bolts. Anchored it to the wall on two sides and it will do the job well. I'd recommend it, as long as you understand it's limitations and have reasonable expectations.

Good size, decent value
It’s a nice safe but not sure how fireproof or waterproof it is since it has mounting holes in the back. It’s a nice size safe, keypad works ok, not great. Setup was very simple, had a little trouble getting the door open the first try. It was stuck although it was unlocked.

Decent safe for home use with usual limitations.
This review is for D-35. It looks and feels like a decent safe for home use with usual limitations.Security: At 26 lbs. it would be easy for a thief to walk away with the safe (unless it's filled with heavy gold bars😊). It should be secured to a cement wall or to a stud. Due to spacing between holes in the safe you will only catch one stud and will have to improvise to secure the other end. However, two 3” screws in a stud might suffice.Fire Proof: It's definitely not fireproof and valuable items should be stored in fireproof bags. (Keep in mind that even the more expensive safes can only handle 1,200° F to 1,700° F for up to an hour). Maximum fireproof bag size which will fit in the safe is 14.2” x 10”.Shelf: Door can only open to 90 degrees and, due to the thickness of the door, shelf can't slide straight out. It requires some maneuvering which can only be done when the safe is basically empty. Also, you have to bend lips on four side brackets which support the shelf. Side brackets and these lips are quite flimsy and chances are that bending them more than a couple of times will break them.Customer Service: I had some questions, the seller responded promptly and addressed my concerns immediately.

Safe
Easy to use size is nice. I haven’t set it on fire so I don’t know if it’s fireproof yet. Lock is functioning easy to open and security is great should’ve bought a bigger size but this size works just fine for what I keep it. I am in love with the safe. I haven’t put it on the wall yet, but I like it.

About Average and Not Good Enough for Me
Have realistic expectations. The majority of sub $200 safes are little more than thin sheet metal locking boxes. Still, some are better than others. Fancy electronic interfaces, which just add unnecessary cost and additional failure points, distract from what's important. Simple is best -- a keypad for code entry plus keys. For me, "biometric" is a negative. (The finger print reader worked so "well" on one safe I returned, ANYONE'S fingerprint opened the door.) Aside from a simple, working interface, I just want a sturdy metal box. For me, the minimum standards are a 4mm thick door and 2mm thick safe body. Many are only 3mm thick at the door and 1.5mm in the body and the safe body metal flexes too easily. Also, the gaps around the door should be tight so prying tools can't be easily inserted. The Day 1 safe fails to meet my standards. I do like the simple interface which is better than most -- a simple key pad and a key. Unfortunately, the gap on the hinge side of the door is too large. The door is 3.35mm thick (3mm with some paint coating) and the safe body is 1.5mm. Press outward in the center of the back panel and you well get significant flex. Prying the safe (which ideally is secured to a wall stud) away from the wall may cause enough flex in the metal to cause failure. Like other listings, the photos are misleading regarding metal thickness as well as the size of the gaps around the door perimeter. Finally, is it too much to ask that the posted specs be correct? The correct exterior dimensions are 14 13/16" wide x 11 3/4" deep x 13 5/8" high. The item weight for the safe itself, printed clearly on the box and confirmed with my scale, is 25 lbs, 1oz, not 28 lbs which represents the item in its packing box. Higher weight means more steel. I really don't understand why Amazon permits the usage of doctored photos and incorrect or unstated specs. Wouldn't everyone be happier if Amazon required disclosure of the important specifications, as I see done on the web sites of other sellers? At this point, I've had to return too many safes despite all the research and review reading I do. I persist because I did find one I like very much and which I recommend. I have three like them. They are sold on Amazon under the names Patron/Golden Key, which are the same product, and measure13.8" x 9.8" x 9.8" (rounded up). I have no affiliation whatsoever with them. If they sold a larger safe with the same design, I would buy it, but they do not. Addendum 1: Found another larger one which is good. Grokk, 15" w x 11.8" D x 11.8" h. Has a finger print reader which I won't use, but that's ok. Addendum 2: To their credit, Day 1 did acknowledge my review so, if they find my observations valid, perhaps we will see some heavier weight safes from them in the future.
