Whisper-Quiet, Wallet-Friendly, and Wonderfully Smart!
I've had the Windmill air conditioner for a little over a year now, and I can honestly say it's one of the best home appliance purchases I've ever made. Living in an apartment, I was looking for a way to cool my room without constantly running the central AC, and this unit has exceeded my expectations.First and foremost, the "WhisperTech" isn't just a marketing gimmick – this thing is quiet. I'm on video calls and phone calls throughout the day, and I never have to worry about the AC noise being a distraction. It's a game-changer compared to older, clunkier window units I've had in the past. But the real surprise? My energy bills! I did a comparison, and since I started using the Windmill, I've seen a significant drop in my monthly electricity costs. It's incredibly efficient at cooling my room, and I'm saving money – a win-win!The WiFi connectivity is another feature I can't live without now. Being able to turn on the AC and set the temperature from my phone before I even get home is a luxury I didn't know I needed. Walking into a perfectly cool room after a long day at work is simply fantastic.I also have to give a shout-out to Windmill's customer support. I had a couple of questions about the warranty, and their team was incredibly responsive and helpful. It's reassuring to know that there's a great team standing behind a great product. And, as a fun little bonus, the Windmill-branded scissors that came in the box are surprisingly high-quality! I find myself reaching for them for all sorts of cutting tasks around the house – a thoughtful and useful addition. Now, no product is absolutely perfect, and there are a few minor things to keep in mind. Installing it by myself was a bit of a workout; I'd definitely recommend having a second person to help lift it into place. Also, I do wish the unit would remember my last temperature and fan settings after being turned off. It's not a huge deal, but it would be a nice touch. Finally, I did end up buying a bit of extra insulation foam to seal some small gaps around the side panels, but it was a quick and inexpensive fix.Despite these very minor points, I can't recommend the Windmill air conditioner enough. It's quiet, efficient, smart, and backed by excellent customer service. If you're looking for a top-notch window AC unit, this is the one to get!Full Transparency: I want to mention that I did receive this unit free of charge. However, this review and all the opinions expressed here are entirely my own, based on my personal experience using the product over the past year.

As good as they claim
I’ve had to deal with Window units on and off over the last 40 years, some pretty new and some built in the early Sixties (they are REALLY heavy), but I will say this is the nicest I’ve used. But expectations are everything, if you think it will be a miracle machine you may be disappointed. But if you like good industrial design, care how it looks, and love the idea of controlling with your phone, I think you’ll be pretty happy with it. It was easy to unpack, easy to install (with really clear instructions), didn’t require anything not in the box to install (yes, it really does come with scissors to cut the side panels. If you think that’s ridiculous you haven’t been around people under 30 much lately), it’s powerful, and has a great App. I don’t want to pick on anyone else’s review, everyone has their own pain points and expectations, and yours may not be met: no product can be perfect for everyone. But I think it’s a good, well made, and quiet unit, that looks nice and does pretty much what they say it will. The “Inverter” that comes with the WhisperTech just means that the compressor is variable speed; unlike the old units we dealt with that only ran at full blast, this guy will speed up and slow down depending on how much cooling is needed. This can cause the unit to rattle on startup, or make noises when it’s changing speed that people aren’t used to associating with AC units and they assume it’s a flaw. It’s really just a temporary side-effect of a great feature: variable speed means it’s quieter and uses less energy just keeping your room cold than it uses to get it cold in the first place. This is a good thing.I don’t leave a lot of reviews, and this product doesn’t really need any help, it has a great star rating already. But I do see a fair number of one star, “Just don’t buy it!” reviews that are based on things like it broke after a week or the filter isn’t a HEPA filter and that makes the whole thing useless, where they are not reviewing the unit itself, but rather their disappointment that it failed in one specific thing that they hate (it doesn’t say it has a HEPA filter—you may want one but that’s not a flaw in the unit). Just read the description they gave it, and strip out all the shiny phrases and exclamation points marketing put in, and decide if the product they describe is what you want. As I said way at the top, before we all got old reading this review: it’s as good as they say it is. I think most people will enjoy it and think it was worth the money. Enjoy the rest of the reviews!

An impressive AC unit
I ordered an 8000BTU Windmill WhisperTech air conditioner. Prior to purchase, I had some technical questions that were promptly and precisely answered I was impressed by its thoughtful design and engineering It came with a brochure (not a fold-out piece of paper) detailing the steps, both graphically and in words, for its installation. All items for the installation were provided including scissors for properly cutting the side panels. The customer needs just aa couple basic tools Foam strips were included to air seal the perimeter of window to the greatest degree achievableI have just tested some of its functions as it is not yet time for full operationThe installers were impressed by the entire package and its installation
