Super quick and easy to setup on my Dell Optiplex home desktop. I purchased this wifi adaptor believing it would accelerate internet speed on my old laptop (purchased in 2016). My TP-link home wifi router is a dual band with top speed over 600mbps. Home broadband speed is 400mbps. However I often get 100-200mbps on this old laptop. After installing this adaptor, using an Internet Speed Test app, only 100mbps was achieved, ie, no improvement. So I removed it. A two-star rating is given here instead of one-star because just perhaps I purchased a wrong item.Does this adaptor only allow your computer to receive wifi signal rather than accelerate the existing one? It's too late to return. But, if anyone can tell me that it is not intended for use to accelerate the wifi speed, then I will modify the rating or remove it. Thanks ahead.

I was hoping not to have to run cables through walls in a new house. The wireless signal penetrated 3 walls to get to my laptop and it had no issues streaming, moving files, etc. When I installed these wifi adapters, the signal had to go through one wall. The speed test said I was getting 60 mbps of throughput, which is more than adequate. But there is also a latency component to wirelss signals. I can't compare these to other dongles, but the time required to log into websites took up to 15 seconds and was unacceptable. I am drilling holes and running cables because a transaction that takes 15 seconds wired should not take 3 minutes with a wireless signal.
