Hold the phone! THIS salt is something to behold!
Okay, hear me out (read to the end). If you’re looking for a strong bacon flavor, keep moving. You’re not going to get that with this. BUT if you’re looking for a depth of dark moody flavor like none other, you’ve found your salt. I’ve spent years trying to find something that can capture the flavor of cooking over a real wood flame, from alder wood salts to liquid smokes (please judge not, I was desperate). I’ve tried other “bacon” salts with a close smell and flavor, but no dice. Until now. The moment I cracked the seal and inhaled the dusky aroma, I was instantly transported to a misty dawn in the mountains of the Tetons when the pine trees still have the morning dew clinging to their needles and sun is just tinting the sky with a mulberry hue and the breakfast campfire is being stirred awake. Close your eyes and you can smell the sharp smell of aged lodgepole pine with the soft edges of warm ash. Not piney at all, but if the color word “burnt umber” could have a smell, this would be it.This salt adds such a deep and warm flavor to almost any dish from sunny eggs to T-bone steak. I even tried it (1/2 what the recipe called for mixed with regular salt) with chocolate chip cookies and…… well, chef’s kiss.I’m a little confused with some of the comments saying it’s “too salty”? It’s salt. It’s supposed to be salty, it’s almost like saying a spoonful of sugar is too sugary. I would be disappointed and surprised if smoked salt wasn’t salty. So yes, it’s salty with a smoked flavor so don’t be confounded when you receive a jar of salt instead of salted bacon. For as glorious as this seasoning is, I find it very reasonably priced. I also like that the grain is mid-sized. Not a large grain, so it blends into my recipes well- but not so fine that it’s tricky to control the amount you add into your meal.If you haven’t gathered my opinion already, I would highly recommend this salt. It’s the best salt for a smoked taste that I’ve come across in years of trying to replicate the distinct savory goodness cooking over a wood fire provides to so many dishes. Try it with roasts, vegetables, heck I may even give a light sprinkle over some homemade dark cherry ice cream!

Interesting
Bought this to use in BBQ rubs when we strike up the Green Egg. Not sure the bacon is anything except some infused odor but, it’s a good sea salt. Other brands of sea salt are much much cheaper and go farther. This tiny jar is just a test for us. Won’t buy it again.

Great stocking stuffer 👍🏼
Bought this as a stocking stuffer for my grilling obsessed husband! He loves the salt grain size, very course! The quality is in the taste, a little goes a long way. We love this salt and cook with it often. I need to buy more soon actually 😂

Yummy!
A delicious product to add just a light note of smoked bacon to your breakfast eggs or sandwich; great flavor booster for vegetables.

All Salt No Smoke Flavor
Upon opening the Caravel Smoke Bacon Salt I got this strong smoke smell as if I was standing in a smoke house or by a smoke pit. I was excited until I tasted it. Salt, Salt, Salt is what this is. Course ground sea salt with a very, very, very little touch of a hint of smoke and absolute no bacon flavor. So to accurately name and describe this product it is really Caravel Sea Salt. If you are looking for a bacon seasoning or even a smoke flavor seasoning this is definitely not it at all. Didn't bother to return, I dumped it.
