Q: Anyone use this with a mac drive?

Mac vs pc shouldn't matter. Hard drives are universal. If you can get the drive out and plug it in here, no problem. It turns any internal drive into a temporary external drive. I have not used it with a mac yet. I've used with succession on at least 10 different devices. It's a lifesaver.

Q: So this is described as SATA 3 compatible, but is it a SATA 2 or SATA 3 adapter?

I own one, but it does not transfer at SATA 3 speeds. It's extremely slow... but it gets the job done when cloning a hard drive or SSD.

Q: Can it handle cloning a partitioned drive? what if the partitions are to be formatted differently? ie mac boot camp.

Not sure about MAC. But directions (as poorly as they are translated) say if you clone a harddrive that is bigger than the one cloning, but sure to format the drive first. Not sure how this effect the boot sector, if at all. Being as MBR / GUID tables mark where a particular partition beings and ends. We all use at our own risk.
