The Complete Idiot's Guide to Astrology, 4th Edition: An Enlightening Primer for Starry-Eyed Beginners Paperback – January 2, 2007

I prefer this book to the Parker's Astrology I also purchased, and am using it in tandem with my Astrology for Yourself book to learn the basics. I have found the information to be presented in a sequence I can follow easily, and the way the book is written is in an informative and fun manner. I have already learned so much that I had been trying with little success to grasp previously. The Parker's book is for someone who doesn't mind having a ton of information flung at them, not for me as a newbie. There is a lot of reinforcement for the information on the elements, the energies, the planets and signs and their glyphs, etc. so the information is really being planted in my memory banks. Good, concise information on houses, rulerships, archetypes. Lots of charts to look at, examples of the material as you're reading through the book without being overwhelming. I'm glad I didn't let the title (Idiot's Guide) insult me, lol, because this is just the ticket for me to grasp the basics and then some of astrology.

There is so much information in this little book I find it amazing. Now I have been into astrology for a long time, but I wanted to go a little deeper and understand charts. I have found out so many things, little tidbits of information that I would have never otherwise known, like Virgos are great gardeners... didnt know. Should have since my cousin is such a wonderful gardener and a Virgo. This is exactly what I needed in a great simple to understand format...not a bunch of science jargon, real English in simple terms for us lay folks.

Bought this book as a reference for a class and it really helps brings astrology to life... more than simply symbols in a pie shaped wedge floating about in the heavens. It has some great key words for the interactions of planets, signs and houses. The language is easy to understand, but not so simplistic that an intermediate person would feel it was a waste of time. Great job, ladies!

This is a good book. The only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars is because this book contains the "Sun in ______ sign" sections which take up about 3 chapters in and of themselves, which is disappointing. I don't want someone to MAKE an interpretation for me; I want to be able to do it myself. Other than that, the book does a great job. I am half way done with it now. The keywords are great and the sections before each planet is slightly smaller than I like but it does get the energy of the planets across to the reader, so that's not a problem. I recommend this for beginners. The aspects section is nice too. That is the only fault I have found with the book was the annoying ________ in _______ sign sections. It takes up way to much space, but it DOES help you understand and synthesize the planet's energy in each sign...so it isn't too horrible.

What a great book! Packed full of interesting information. I started out with very little knowledge in the field of astrology but through this book I have learned so much! This book is absolutely perfect for those starting out at a beginner level of astrology.

I opened the covers and I was hooked....what a well written easy to understand and follow the information book.This was recommended to me by the astrology teacher I was taking classes from....she was right...You cannot put it down once you begin to read it....Hightly recommend

It's a good reference for Astrology, and perfect for writing fantasy stories, if you're into that kind of thing.

Written very simply put, easy to understand. Great for ppl with Learning Disabilities.
