Cool tool
Perfect tool for the price. Basic, simple, and accurate. Did a few foundations, shot elevations for drainage in my yard, also set our above ground pool perfectly level. If you need something simple. This will get the job done.

Overall good value
This builders level is perfect for the home owner DIYer. I've used this tool ten times in a month and have not been disappointed not even once. The level itself is made of what I believe is aluminum NOT plastic and is very heavy duty. The tripod is also aluminum with some plastic and probably a little cheap but I don't plan on using it to jack up my car. The grade rod is aluminum and a little cheap but there again I have no plans to abuse it. I was Leary of even spending over $200 on a level but I'm glad I did, it takes all the guess work out of my projects. I've used it for a fence, concrete forms, a shop floor, and also soon a deck. Leveling this unit is really easy and could be done by a trained monkey just take the five minutes and read the directions. I'm going to buy a interior laser level now, since I have the tripod. Bottom line......................BUY IT!

Good, BUT . . .
It's exactly what I expected. It was packaged well and arrived when I expected it. It seems to be well thought out and mostly well constructed. I took off one star because the threads were bad on the mount on the transit (where the tripod screws in) and we had to fix them - real PAIN! The grade pole is in INCHES, which is just fine for me. It "snaps" into an extended position and collapses very easily. The velcro strap that holds the legs of the tripod together can be lengthened a bit to hold the grade pole too - makes it handy to carry everything. It is very light weight unlike some that are out there. It's not as accurate as a $1,000 unit, but I didn't expect it to be and it's fine for the work we do. Overall, it's a good buy and I would recommend it to a friend. Now, let's see how it holds up over time . . . I will update with any issues.

GREAT MANUAL TRANSIT!!!
PROS: Works as expected. Great quality. NOT A LASER and NOT SELF-LEVELING so don't buy it expecting one or both of those features. You WILL have to pay more for a quality level with those features. The case for the level unit is very protective, but, unfortunately, plastic. We'll see how well its photo-sensitivity stands up to long, sunny days on-site.CONS: My ONLY complaint is that it needs a carrying bag to accommodate the level, AND the stand and grade rod. It is definitely a pain carrying three separate items, to do one job, when you can't park close to the set-up location. And if you need to carry your clipboard and/or plans, then it all gets really cumbersome.

Very easy to set up
Very easy to set up. Would have liked a longer yard stick for my property, but I can't complain about the 8' one that is included. Smooth operation.Would have been clever of them to include a laser mount or similar, but not worth a ding; instead I can ballpark by holding a laser in parallel with the site for distant measurement points. Also not worth a ding, but worth knowing: if a reference point is closer than about 15', you can't see the red foot numerals because you are too close. The carry case is OK; mine either arrived cracked or developed it shortly thereafter, but not a big deal. I'm not a builder by trade; his is just helping my DIY work on my site.
