Easy to use for the back yard mechanic!
I used these spring compressors to put new bearings in the struts on my 2002 Honda Odyssey and they worked great ! They were very easy to use even for someone like myself who has never done this before!

Best quality and price can't beat it.
Work great and its half the price of advance auto. Works great recommend if you use this use the manual wrench power tools tends to mess up the threads. Recommend these to anybody.

Works great for most of the vehicles I used it on
Works great for most of the vehicles I used it on. Had a newer dodge Dakota that it would not fit between the coils of the spring

Better quality and design than many other low cost, DIY-class kits
Sturdy, user friendly, not perfect but very much better quality and design than some other 'low cost' and more dangerous spring tools I've used. Good for standard automotive applications. Comes with a storage box too. Recommended.

Works
Worked "ok" on 03 Mazda6. Too bulky for that job as a spring is very close to a strut. But might be easier to use on some cars with more room between strut and spring.

Very nice tool for the money.
Worked great on removing front coil springs on my 65 Mustang just used 5" long piece of pipe as a spacer

Threads stripped
On my first use the threads stripped out. I did not use an impact and thoroughly greased the threaded rod before use. I've used rented spring compressors in the past but this time thought it would be nice to own one.Tool is going back.

Cumbersome
I used this to install front coil springs in your typical GM RWD 2WD application. I quickly.found the threaded was going to be way too long and would protrude too far on the top side and hit the frame. As such I cut 4-1/2 inches off the rod and it was good. The arms on this compressor are also not offset enough to allow the tool to be parallel inside the spring, it does work but this makes it cumbersome. I had to compress my spring from 14 inches down to about 10 inches on order to install it with the lower control arm hanging off the spindle. Be sure and double sure your seated on the top into the frame pocket a d that the spring is clock properly into the lower control arm. This is tricky and cumbersome as well. Dont plan to install springs in this manner into a show quality painted frame without damaging the paint its impossible! I used the rubber insulators and if I had to do it again I think I might pre glue them to the spring with weather strip adhesive. They do not stay put! I much prefer to this job on a vehicle I am not trying to restore nicely where you have the weight of the engine and a floor jack to get these springs in. Long post I know but these are my observations and I hope to prevent you some of these frustrations!!
