Great product
I bought more than one I believe and they went in and worked like they were meant to be there. Just like the original..

Brass Mortise door knob set
I have a 120 yr old home and have been remodeling it. Most of the house has the original mortise skeleton key door knobs. The attic was the exception. For what ever reason it was missing, It just didn't have a knob set on it. I thought I would try this one because I didn't want to spend $100 on a knob set. This is avery nice inexpensive set and it worked great. It is easy to take apart and switch to right or left open. I would probably choose a more expensive option for doors the are used more often like bedrooms and such. This is not very heavy duty but it works and looks great for my attic door. The only complaint that I have is the screws. The heads are to big to recess flush so I went to the hardware store and got some with smaller heads. For the money this mortise set is definitely a good buy.

Matches the original
My bedroom door (and home) is about 100 years old and these were the door handles installed. The brass had faded and been repainted over white by family in the past. My wife saw this and it was a perfect replacement. We sanded the door and put a fresh coat of paint and installed this door knob. It looks amazing. The old one dropped out and the new handle went right in. I had to reverse the mechanism for it to work which was easy since they have an instructional video on the page here. Putting the spring back was the hardest part since I'm not that dexterous. Other than that, it was a breeze to install. Highly recommended if you are looking to replace your old janky worn out loose one.

Ever had to break out of your own bathroom?
Bought this item to replace the existing mortise on my bathroom door (same product)The existing mechanism on my bathroom door of my apartment failed, causing me to get locked in the bathroom. Thankfully, my Ralph’s rewards card and a pair of scissors allowed me to McGuyver my way out. I promptly disassembled the mechanism to find an overly complicated design with one major flaw: when you turn the knob, the latch is pulled back by a thin bent metal plate that had fatigued and broken off. Also, the knobs are secured with set screws to a threaded square rod, so every so often they come loose, and the knob will just turn without engaging the latch mechanism at all. This just requires occasional maintenance and is easy to fix, so I don’t consider it a terrible design flaw, but I though it would be worth mentioning.TL;DR:Looks good, mechanism is weak; if you don’t want to get locked in/out of your rooms, choose a name brand set you can buy at any home improvement store and save yourself a naked McGuyver escape room experience.

Nice update
I have an old house with old door latches. This was my first time changing out a mortise lock pad. Pretty straightforward. I have bought product again for my other doors.

Perfect replacement
I used this to replace an ANCIENT, ORIGINAL mortise lock. I was worried that the sizes were not universal or the holes wouldn’t line up well. I was wrong in worrying. The cartridge fit perfectly into the old slot, screwed down without an issue, and lined up perfectly with the holes previously cut into the wall.As you can see by the pics, my door has seen better days but the knob set looks great! The common issue with these is that the locking mechanism fails. My old mortise lock was aggravatingly terrible to unlock. I was overly happy to see this one locked and unlocked like a modern door. Life’s little pleasures.

Cheaply made
This lock broke within a week of installing it. Not the first time either. Last lock broke so badly I has to call the fire dept to get me out of my bedroom where it was installed. Gave one star because it wouldn't post without
