I did a lot of research on marine radios and based on features and reviews decided on this one. The radio comes with everything you need to get up and running including a good user's manual, a quality charger, belt clip, and lanyard. I mounted the charger in our boat with the supplied screws and the included 12v cord.I used the radio to monitor channel 16 and the weather alert channels for several days out on the lake. I heard some radio chatter and also received a few weather alerts while monitoring channel 16. The weather alert feature is loud and works well. I have had brief conversations with other boaters and have found the range to be acceptable. After four full days of boating on a single charge the battery indicator still read full. It is easy to use and feels like a quality product. Note, though, that this radio does not have the GPS/Bluetooth modules with the DSC/MMSI functionality for broadcasting emergency messages to the USCG. If you boat on large lakes or offshore, the upgrade to Cobra's MR HH600 FLT GPS BT model is worth it. Recommended for leisure boaters on small bodies of water to have in case of emergency.

Batteries last forever on a charge it seems like. We use them for hunting and can talk good distances and it is very clear. Great value

nice compact radio, I was wearing it on my life jacket and at speed I could not hear it, but the wind was going by my ears at 30MPH. I would probably get one with a shoulder mic of if I was going to buy another. Having the weather band on the radio is nice though.

few items get a 5 star review. this does float, works simply and effectively. can set for near shore or a little further out use. auto set to 16 and 9.

There is a lot of hate for this radio on Amazon. Seems like sometimes people are getting a lemon product, however with Amazon’s return policy, that shouldn’t really be an issue. Like MANY other people, my radio works excellent. Sound is clear, it has decent range, and it is absolutely water proof. Make sure you test it out of the box, setup the warranty through Cobra, and your radio SHOULD be protected if something comes up.A few things I would recommend, take a moment to wipe down the radio (mostly just the battery terminals) and any seals after use, especially if it is exposed to salt water, but you should always do that anyway. Saltwater is harsh on things, even “waterproof” things. If the radio gets submerged, LIGHTLY blow into the mic to get any water out, that way your transmission won’t be a garbled mess. I can’t speak to the longevity of this radio, as I’ve only had it for a short bit, but so far it’s working great. I mostly use it for inland rivers and protected bays here in the mountainous PNW, and my range on High is very good considering the size of this radio.I was on the fence about this radio with so many negative reviews, but this thing seems like a good Cobra product, reliable, and practical for me (kayaker). I would ABSOLUTELY recommend this radio.
