Highly functional mount that looks very nice when installed
High quality mount. Its installation is not as straight forward as some of the cheaper models but it is very strong and the 25" extension of the arms is very useful to achieve high degree rotation of larger TV's. The mount looks incredibly professional when mounted on behind the TV. My go-to mount if customer is not afraid to spend money to get something that works & looks great.

Low profile and versatile
I like this mount a lot. It has a very thin profile that you can make even thinner if your wall permits you to counter-sink the entire mount. It also is extremely accommodating when it comes to mounting. You can mount the rails on studs that aren't quite where you want the TV and then slide the TV left/right to be where you'd like it. The swivel tensions are easy to adjust and you can swing the TV in and out from the wall quite easily. I turn my TV nearly perpendicular to the wall and then back again every day. However, there are a few caveats -- one of them VERY important.1) The supplied bolts are low-grade. I discovered this when one of the bolts broke in half while I was installing it. Scouring the 'net yields only one company that makes high-grade lag bolts. Amazon does not sell them. You'll have to order them elsewhere: Spax PowerLags are Grade 5. The Chief mount wants 5/16 bolts, but the Spax shafts are narrower than low-grade bolts. So, you can fit 3/8 Spax in the Chief.I installed mine on a wall that I had access to both sides. So, I used Grade 8 bolts: head on far side, Tnut on wallboard, mount over Tnut, Grade 8 nuts with lock nut on the mount side. This is probably serious overkill, but after snapping a bolt with just fingertip pressure on the wrench, I didn't want to mess around with something that just "should be OK".BTW, yes, the original lags were properly pilot drilled and lubricated. I was pretty shocked when it snapped -- and mad, too, since it snapped inside the wood. Luckily, there was an alternate location for the next try (4x8 post not a 2x4).2) Plan your entire layout in detail. TV, speakers, speaker wires, power wires, and junction boxes for your wires and power. You're probably thinking "yeah, yeah, I know where I want everything already." That's what I thought, but wanting isn't enough. You have to know where it's possible to mount everything, too. And, unless you've seen your wall bare to the studs, that wallboard can hide myriad surprises (mine did).A stud finder will help more than hurt, but be sure to check all the locations you'll need for potential blocking items in your wall. Some items your stud finder won't find, too, like plastic pipes. I'd highly recommend cutting any holes you'll need prior to installing the TV mount. You might discover things that require adjustments in your plan.BTW, patching wallboard is really easy, especially if you make nice clean holes and save the hole-piece for later; ie. it's better to make only the holes you need, but don't worry if you have to adjust your plan to work around wall-issues and patch a hole or two.3) Some handy links. I used these items to help give my install a clean look and put all the AV gear in a remote closet: PowerBridge TWFP-WW thINWALL Solution Cable Management Kit (White) -/- Vanco HTWP72 7.2 Home Theater Connection Wall Plate -/- Next Generation Remote Control Extender

Waste of money....
The product must be installed between the beams 16" apart... Unfortunately, this was not clearly described in product description. The mount is bulky and VERY heavy. It is also very expensive. Esthetically, I think it looks nice. However, because the 16" beam space limitation was not clearly described, I have to return the product. I have to pay for shipment both ways and plus 15% re-stocking fee. Overall, waste of money and disappointing experience.

Crazy heavy over complicated mount but it works well
Great quality mount. Way more complicated to install than any other mount I have used (100's of mounts). Weighs a ton. You will need at least two people to hold this up to mount to wall.

Full geometry diagram of movement available after mounting is needed ...
Full geometry diagram of movement available after mounting is needed in description. Immediately became apparent by examining installation diagrams that it would not work where I wanted to mount it. This is despite the fact that I downloaded the complete spec sheet from the manufacturer before purchase and spent and hour measuring and figuring fit. Even the spec sheet didn't have the diagram I needed. I can probably make it work with a modification to the wall cabinet, but if not it will be returned. Disappointing because otherwise it is a solid piece of hardware.

Works perfect
Chief brand wall mounts are the only wall mounts my installer would use. Easy to pull out and put back flush against wall. Arrived on time.

great unit, lousy customer service
Originally bought this unit after great amount of research. Unfortunately my idiot contractor did not correct stud spacing during tear down, and I could not use it with anything less than 16" stud spacing. I wish this unit could be used with studs spaced anywhere from 10 -24" like the unit I had to purchase because it did allow for spacing less than 16". If this unit could accommodate the spacing issue, this thing would be worth 10 stars. Well made and ultra thin ( less than 2 inches from wall when fully collapsed). Be aware that Chief customer service is anything but stellar. They act like they couldn't be bothered with you. Too bad the unit far exceeds the CS.
