191 Soldering Temperature Tester Electrical Soldering Iron Tip Thermometer Sensor Line Digital Display Tool

A very useful tool for any solderer's bench
Seems to work well. As in the picture, it only comes with 5 thermocouple sensors in the pack, despite the label of the packet claiming there are 10. I feel they could have made this clearer in the description. But for the price it's fine really, as each sensor should last for quite a while. I highly recommend anyone who does any amount of soldering should get one of these - soldering stations that have temperature readouts are often wildly inaccurate (my old one was more than 80C below the claimed temperature, even after plenty of time to sit and stabilise, while my new one is surprisingly accurate despite being fairly cheap, which was a pleasant surprise).

1/3 Failed to work
I work in the space industry and we have to check the tip temperature of our soldering irons every time we use them. The company ones we normally use are 4-5 times the price of these, but look very similar so thought i'd take a punt and buy 3. All three (not out of the box) where sent off for calibration. Two passed no problem the third however failed to work. As they were considerably cheaper than or normal tip monitors and calibrated successfully, thought not a bad buy. Just don't be surprised if it DoA, but then guess you can return it, and hopefully get a replacement that works.

Useful test device
I have to assume that the temperature data provided by this machine is reasonably accurate but you can never be sure without having yet another one to compare with :-) However it has only one job to do so we can only hope it can do it. You need to have a clean and freshly tinned soldering tip in order to get proper heat transfer to the sensor otherwise it will under-estimate temperature. The device is most useful for calibrating soldering stations that have manual control but does not offer a direct temperature readout (my old Weller unit for example). Also useful for one-off checking of those that do as their accuracy can be suspect. I would not say this is an essential bit of kit - I've been soldering for years in blissful ignorance of the actual temperature of my irons - but if you get a new iron it can check it is working correctly.

Good for the price
Works well. I had more expensive ones which were uncalibrated.

Works fine
Seems to work fine. Accuracy, not sure how to test a tester, but seems consistent.

191 Soldering Temperature Tester arrived on time yesterday and works as expected
the 191 Soldering Temperature Tester I used today to check the temperature of a Soldering Iron Tip and check the calibration of the power supply / temperature controller unit

Misleading - read on for details.
Arrived 31/3/21, on opening amazon package which was in good condition.I was left looking (photo1) at the 191's box, which appeared to have been opened previously.I then took it out of it's box and again noticed (photo1) that the bag looked like it had been opened and stuck back down in a different place. Three of the four soft 'pads' were missing which I found that it caused the 191 to wobble. Finally and importantly, the photo on the description page clearly shows a pack of sensors, the printing on the pack in that photo says "10 pcs" - it stated "10 pcs" on the pack that I received too - but it only contained 5. So 1 to fit to the 191 and 4 spares - instead of 9.I needed to use the 191 and on that basis decided that it was only fair that I keep it.UPDATE - 2 months later and the same misleading photo, claiming 10 sensors, is still being used.
