XikarPuroTemp Wireless Hygrometer Remote Sensor

I love this product. I have multiple acrylic humidors so this is perfect for broadcasting the humidity/temp in each to the hub I keep in my office.

My 3rd one, and they all work pretty well, allowing me to measure the Rh on my big humidor.

I bought this as a second remote unit to Xikars base unit & was somewhat disappointed. Great idea, I like monitoring my humidors without having to open them. The base unit came with a remote sensor & both remotes synced quickly. I waited five days to write this revue so to let things settle in. Units are advertized to read +or-2%rh & of course they both went to the negative when compared to my calibrated analog Hygrometer & another corresponding digital hygrometer. The 2nd remote unit is off by as much as 6%rh. I've noticed this variance diminished somewhat when remotes were switched between my 50 & 200 stick boxes but both my original calibrated hygrometers gave constant readings from either box.Xikar would have really hit the mark had they made the remotes calibratable but what you get is what you get. I'm considering returning this inacurate remote but its not such a big hassle to remember the discrepancy & deal with it accordingly.

The calibration done at the factory leaves a little to be desired. All 3 units that I bought are off by several %rh. I put all 3 in a tupperware container with a 75% boveda pack; all 3 measured 3 different values. One was off by 6%, one off by 4%, and the 3rd by 3%. Not a problem if they could be zeroed/reset. No such luck with this item. I was tokd in an email by xicar to remember to take these differences into account when looking at the values on the units. In other words, if it's off by 5%, then remember to add/subtract 5% from what the reading is. Other than these 2 things, this is a great idea, they just need to be tweeked and rethought.

This is an excellent item. It comes with 1 hygrometer and I purchased 2 additionally. It monitors all 3. Very accurate. I tested it thoroughly. Love it. Works for 2 humidity and 1 wine fridge unit.

SUCKS!!. The 1st one I got melted when I put the batteries that came with it in. I put it in my humidor. When I went back to check, I noticed it was not working. When i picked it up, it was so hot the plastic inside melted. I was sent a replacement. It stopped reading the humidity. It reads 20% all of the time. I find them to be off more than what the manufacture states. My other brand hygrometers all read the same. This Xikar readers are off more than 3 to 5 points. I love Xikar products but this one is GARBAGE.

I'm just using this as a hygrometer without buying the base unit and it works great. Also nice that it takes AAA batteries, instead of those button batteries that are hard to find.

Set up a salt test to make sure this unit was on point. It was off by 1% after 48 hrs. ( I let hygrometers stay for 48 hrs instead of just 24). Instead of reading 75% it read 74%. That’s fine, I’m using the wireless device & set this up as to monitor another humidor.
