I agree it probably would BETTER suit this pendant if the chain WERE sturdier and longer, for the chain is indeed "fine/thin," BUT I like its "shimmer" and it does suit this pendant's handsome and detailed design (with its own bright and shiny plating). (The 925 stamp CAN be found on the back, but so too is the ubiquitous "China" stamp. Must they always...?)I chose this necklace for its design but even more so for the RICH, DEEP purple of the stones AS SHOWN. The word "African" preceding the word "amethyst" I think FOOLED ME into believing (ahh, at long last) these could indeed be different, of better/quality color (rather than "just" their source place). They all say "allow for natural variations," that they "may vary slightly in size or COLOR." Key word being "SLIGHTLY," no? but "it's all subjective," right? (not if you utilize it to cover yourself from anyone charging misrepresentation, which we all know is what it's really for). Unfortunately I keep seeing it, they all present a picture of their VERY BEST sample (or perhaps enrich the photo's color(s) like some admit they "heat treat or enhance the stones"). I took off 2 stars because my pendant's stones are a paler version of those shown (not "slightly," but clearly so). Sigh... It IS a letdown one hopes won't be the case for you. (It kicks one's cynicism up another notch.) I haven't yet decided if I will return it or keep it (with diluted enthusiasm).

This is a cute statement necklace. The chain itself is thin but the charm is a bit heavy giving it an authentic feeling. It is beautiful for the price and feels great on. I received a lot of compliments with it on, definately worth the price. The only drawback is that if you leave it anywhere for a while, the chain gets knotted and it is difficult to fix.

This is just a beautiful necklace. I purchased one for my mother for Christmas, and liked it so much I am ordering another for me.If you like filigree jewelry, you will find this to be nicely detailed and very eye catching. The garnets aren't the highest quality, but they were clear, bright, and very pretty. As some other reviewers have noted, the chain is very delicate and thin. Aesthetically, I love a thin chain... but it could easily break if it snagged on a piece of clothing.As another reviewer mentioned, the backside of the pendant does show the manufacturing. This is clearly a mold-cast piece rather than a handmade one. At the price, I did not expect it to have been handmade. The front side was properly polished and I did not note any visible defects.

Here was my problem: I blew the budget for my wife's Christmas present on a gold necklace and couldn't afford to get a comparable pendant, so I needed an inexpensive pendant to put on the neclace as a placeholder until I got her a nicer pendant. I was looking for something unique, not the same old hearts or crosses. This turned out to be better than I expected. Gold plated, so it's affordable, but well made, particularly the detail. The garnet stones look great against the gold. The pendant came with a light chain, but I had no problem putting the pendant on the much thicker necklace. All of this for a price that didn't come close to busting the budget.If you're looking for an affordable pendant that looks tasteful, this is it.

This necklace needs to be worn against a darker color. As you can see, the blue topaz stones are very light colored and almost blend in where they are. However, against a darker background and with something that has the blue coloring, these stones pop nicely and stand out.The filigree work on this necklace looks very delicate. My wife was impressed with the look as most of her other necklaces are simply the stone in a setting.

My brother & I picked this gift out for his girlfriend. After looking at the negative reviews about it being flimsy, I was concerned, but the positive reviews helped me change my mind and I am oh so glad I did. The picture does NOT do it justice! The necklace is beautiful, not too light or heavy, and is sturdy. The gold and garnets look so beautiful together and it catches the light. I absolutely love it, I wish it was mine. The necklace itself is very dainty, but it makes the pendant seem as if it is floating on the person's neck. I love the effect. It's fancy enough for special occasions but also nice for regular wear.

I was skeptical about buying jewelry that I couldn't see in person, but I am so happy with this necklace. It is really attractive--bright with faceted stones. It doesn't look cheap and it has a good weight. The chain is not too thin or fragile, which I was also worried about. The clasp is sturdy as well. It's packaged carefully in a jewelry box that would work well if you were giving this as a gift. I wore it and got lots of compliments! Would order it again.

The pendant is nice and big, about a silver dollar. But obviously slightly teardrop shaped. The cold and the garnets look great, no way to tell its gold plated except to the very educated eye.The chain is very thin, and very delicate. It could easily get knotted or otherwise broken. Be gentle with it. Would not stand up to an infant's errant grasp.Bought it for my partner for V-day. She loved it, looks great on her. Can't go wrong for the price. Looks a lot more expensive than it is.

This is an amazing piece. I was worried it might be a little rough or poor quality, but the detail is amazingly delicate and the stones are stunning.My girlfriend loves it and hasn't taken it off in weeks, and so far it's holding up perfectly.I was a little concerned at the reviews that said the chain was a bit fragile, but no cause for concern yet, even after some heavy wear.

Awesome quality for the necklace charm. The chain is delicate, but the charm has a bit of weight to it so it balances out.
