Make your own tools... holds an edge
I finally got around to making some replacement scrapers. Good steel that holds an edge for a long time, even with hardwoods like hard maple or African blackwood.

Exactly what I wanted.
This is very hard HSS so grinding takes awhile. I am using it to make a very shallow spindle gouge.Check out Tomislav Tomasic's turning videos.

Made a lathe scraper
I ground the end to be a round scraper for lathe work and added a handle. Worked fine
