Safe 😅
First time diving into suspension spring work, wanted a safe impact-rated compressor and this one had the good reviews. This is super heavy. I got a workout just assembling it. The whole kit is so heavy I feel like I got my money's worth. Handling the tool will add hairs to your chest. So far I used it on one strut. Original spring was broken. This compressed my replacement BMW sport spring with no problem. I used my Harbor Freight wall plug impact gun but you could totally use a normal rachet with ease, it'll just take forever. Once I felt safe that the spring wasn't going to fly out, I started working with it on my lap. There are nubs/tabs on the claws that make it nearly impossible to slip off by accident.Read and follow the directions carefully. If you can't tell the difference between the wrong & right example pics, look closer. Fine angles and alignment.Only issue I had is that the yellow plastic sleeves on the claws get mangled on first use. When working with relatively short spring spaces, you'll find the need to have to hammer on/off the claws (My 04 BMW 325xi front strut doesn't have enough spring loops to compress from the middle, so had to squeeze the claws into the thin gaps on the smaller spring loops towards top/bottom).I don't use the sleeves at all now - I feel safer using the bare metal claws. I'm not too worried about scratching the springs, just gotta be careful. In general it's is a rough job this tool was designed for, and I think it does great.

Heavy Duty Tool! Very Safe
I bought this tool to facilitate the replacement of the struts on my 1997 LS 400. It is very well built. Heavy Duty and allows the use of an impact driver. It made short work of compressing the coil springs. We replaced the struts but then realized that we had made an error on two of them which meant that we had to remove them and compress the springs a second time. Even with my mistake and having to do two of the four twice, this tool made quick work of what is normally a very difficult, dangerous and time consuming tasks. I bought this tool for this one job, I may have the opportunity to use it again but if I only ever use this one time, I consider it to have been a bargain.

Good item.
I like this coil depressor. It got the job done. However, the pin which keeps the pin in the top that allows you to tighten or loosen the coil keeps falling out. I had to keep putting it back in the pin hole it was meant for or you would have no way to tight or loosen the coil. Also, the space between the seem to be too close to the coil and ends of the pan the base of the coil itself sits in. This made it difficult to remove the coil tool . Yet with a little finagling I was able to remove the tool. Still the tool worked and for the price, it wasn’t too bad. Thank you.

First time replacing shocks for my 2000 Toyota Tacoma Prerunner V6.
Purchase this tool to replace the shocks on my 2000 Toyota Tacoma for 140.00 vs spending $280.00- $340.00 to have a mechanic do the job. The tool worked very well. The yellow plastic housing does crack and break after use. But they still can be used again. Happy with this tool remedy, felt safe and at ease using this tool. Recommended!!!

Cannot Say Enough!
Any SAAB C900 owner who has R&R'd front coil springs - and had to dance with The Devil's Twin-Screw Widowmakers - look no further than Your New Best Friend. This compressor's fit, grip, operation, and beefiness left us thinking we had gotten away with something. It was borderline too easy by comparison to the same job with Satan's Death Clamps. As others noted, this tool is very hefty - have your arms ready.5/5 stars ease of use.5/5 stars sturdiness.6/5 stars no damage to the wheel arches. C900 owners know what I'm sayin'.

Broke first use!
Bought this because an impact gun can be used on the tool. First time used to change out struts and it broke. The roll pin came out on the second strut being replaced. I’ve used a manufacturers tool like this at the dealership no issues. I will not take a chance with spring to the face because the tool came apart do to poor material quality.

Read this!
If you have done reviews on spring compressors you have probably found that they can be extremely dangerous! I used this on a Toyota Tundra with a 6” lift and it felt completely safe. I have seen reviews where people say they popped apart and the nut broke off. DO NOT use an impact gun. Take your time and use a ratchet and you should have no problems
