Good Learning and Practice Book for Base HSK1 Simplified Hanzi (汉字)
First of all, HSK1 (Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi) level 1 is a standardized Chinese proficiency test developed by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China (PRC) which implemented simplified characters to make it easier to teach them, so this book will be primarily teaching you simplified Hanzi, though you will get some teaching as to the original development from bone glyphs, the evolution to traditional symbols, and then to simplified symbols. If you want to be proficient in both, you may want to start with traditional symbols which are used outside of PRC and are generally prettier but more complicated. This book will start with the simpler characters and progress to the more complex characters helping you learn the rules of writing characters, the names of the strokes, the meanings of the hanzi, and giving you repetitions to retain how to draw (and hopefully read) them. It will progressively reduce clues with each iteration so you can lose the training wheels so to speak. It also includes exercises to practice what you've learned. Importantly, it includes free audio files, so while you learn the characters, you can learn the proper way to hear and say the tones. While this book is intended for children in China, I'd have no problem recommending this to anyone of any age starting out on their journey to Mandarin fluency.

Great book
Note: That I haven’t used it yet.I know about 2/3 of the HSK 1 by Pinyin. I haven’t practiced writing the characters very much and I believe doing so on paper will be very helpful. I also wanted todo exercises rather than just writing notes/lessons. This is perfect. It’s a workbook and textbook. I got the same book for Mandarin and Korean. I wish I got it for Japanese too, but I bought a different book. Although, I haven’t used the link for the audio. I really appreciated the Pinyin and hanzi vocabulary list in the back of the book. I checklist the words I go each time I complete a lesson. Overall the book is great and I plan to use it with ease.(The book delivered a day earlier in clean quality. The cleanest white pages I’ve ever seen. No dents or marks on the book.)

Lingo Mastery has done it again - another great "made easy" book.
Like the title states, this book is an easy step-by-step approach to learn Chinese Characters. From the history of the characters to the explanation of the strokes, stroke order and rules to the detailed pictures with each step numbered and illustrated for each stroke, this book captivates you and motivates you to learn to draw the characters. I actually found it fun from the very beginning. Each section has exercise sets which further instill and test your knowledge. Another plus is that each exercise set has a listening practice section where you listen to the accompanying audio files and circle what you heard. This augments and reinforces what you have learned. If you want to learn Chinese Characters, this is a great book to start with.

Another win from Lingo-Mastery
I’m not “learning” Chinese yet but aspire to. I decided to get started with practicing the characters though. The book is great place to start though! 10/10 would buy again. Thanks!

Characters Too Small
Both the English text and Chinese characters are too small, thus difficult too read.
