Works fine
Swapped it out for a burnt out one. Basic mechanical knowledge required I suppose. No issues at all.

Does what it says on the tin
An over 20 year old toaster and now you know why you pay do much for them. One element failed and this was the cure. Easy to install and while doing it I can see the build quality of the toaster itself. Arrived well packed. All working fine now. A low cost cure.

Dualit toasters
Dualit toasters have been previously described as Land Rovers of the toaster world. They don’t leak oil but are amenable to amateur repair when they go wrong - much better than sending failed appliances to landfill. These elements are easy to replace and there are a number of YouTube videos to keep inexperienced repairers on track. Only problem I have encountered is fracture of the element card in transit.

Dualit toaster middle element
When my 4-slot Dualit toaster began to malfunction I wondered if I would have to scrap it. Then I found that replacement elements were available. I thought it would not be beyond me to refit the element myself so I ordered a replacement. The element arrived quickly and neatly packaged, it even had lettering on it to indicate where it should be fitted (in the middle in my case; end elements are also available). It appeared to be a genuine Dualit part even though it did not come from Dualit. Now to repair the toaster. I made sure the toaster was unplugged from the mains and that it was not hot before I commenced.Once I had removed the cover and disconnected the wiring to the old element I was able to slide the old element out. The new element slid into guides in the toaster so was simple to locate. The wiring took less than 5 minutes to refit and it was time to replace the cover - that took longer than the element. As the cover was springy I found it quite difficult to hold in position whilst the screws were fitted. There seemed to be a knack to it. Once that was done I tried the toaster on some bread from the freezer and it coped beautifully. So, for a few pounds I have a fully functioning toaster again. I do feel that it is not a job for anybody - playing with electrical items is for professionals.Incidentally, it seemed that the old element had been damaged when a pitta bread became jammed in the slot and needed to be levered out. It was nothing to do with the quality of the toaster.

Genuine Dualit Quality Spare Part
One of the huge advantages of buying Dualit products is that every part is replaceable and so the life of your appliance is so long it far outweighs the initial investment and environmental impact. So, when, after over 20 years, the central element of my toaster went, I wanted to replace it with a genuine Dualit spare part and was thrilled find this on Amazon. Delivery was very quick and installation, although fiddly, was all completed in less than 30 minutes and my toaster is now as good as new.

Genuine Dualit part.
After many years of service, one of the middle elements failed in my toaster. The replacement arrived in just a standard Amazon cardboard envelope/sleeve. Somehow it arrived in pristine condition. You can buy the Dualit spanner to make fitting easier. I didn't as I already had a mini set of metric spanners... schoolboy error, they appear to be BA/Imperial so metric didn't fit! I carefully replaced the element using long nose pliers to hold the nuts.. I have now ordered an imperial set of mini spanners for next time.I'm very happy with the part supplied.

Saved my toaster
Thanks to parts like this my toaster is older than any other kitchen appliance I own. I find it fiddly to fit, but I'm not good at this sort of thing, but for my son it was a five minute job.
