Basketball Drills, Plays and Strategies: A Comprehensive Resource for Coaches Paperback – August 31, 2007

I keep getting volunteered to coach my son’s basketball team. I’m the only parent that has any knowledge of basketball and what I have is just from playing all though school 20+ years ago. So I was looking for something to help me teach them the basics and general skills. I’ve found this book easy to use and very helpful for ideas on drills to use during practice.

My elementary school kids loved this. Helped them break down rules and postions better. Great for learning basics!

I was hoping that this book would live up to the word comprehensive, but it's not. The book is good enough, though, and I am glad that I bought it. The diagrams in the books for drills and practices are good and gives good visuals for organizing practices. The book is good (because I didn't give it 5 stars doesn't mean it's not good or worth getting) but I think you're better served referencing other coaching books in addition to using this one.

The drills are explained easily so that you can just read them and implement them. They have visuals to help you as well.

Good well explained and illustrated drills and rationale.

I have not reviewed the book really but just some glances I thought it might be a little difficult for a 9 yr old. However he loves basketball and has made his brother run the drills in the book so he is enjoying it.

I got this for my 10 yo daughter's assistant basketball coach. Having not played basketball himself, he was struggling to find some drills for the girls when the head coach was not available for practice. He said this has been a great addition to their practices. He has modified some of them as the girls he is coaching are only 10.

This book was a life saver during my first years as a basketball coach. It gave me a foundation and tried to navigate my new job at the time. All coaches use these drills but the modify them to suit the needs of the current school.
