Impressive, but how long will it last?
This review is intended for the 800watt 2 bar Quartz Heater. As my old fan heater died out that I used to warm my bedroom, decided to purchase one of these little heaters as an alternative. I should say that I don't typically use electric heating, and for rooms I don't usually stay in all day - I try and divide energy between electric and oil heating. Oil heating for my living room and hallways - whilst electric for rooms I stay in only in the evening or night. So far this approach has worked pretty well for me.Now onto the heater itself. It arrived in its box, and I should say from the box and packaging I was not impressed. This isn't an Amazon issue as you can request to have the box packaged in a box that doesn't tell what's inside the parcel - what I'm perturbed by is the lack of protective insulation inside. It's just literally the heater with a plastic wrapping on it with absolutely no protective padding to protect it from bumps and shakes across its journey. The heater is freely left to shake up and down as it travels and makes its journey to your doorstep. Unacceptable - Quartz element bars can be sensitive to bumps and shakes and this is probably a reason why some people get these heaters and already out of the box 1 bar isn't working. This heater is 800watts total output - this is below average for most electrical heaters as they're typically ranging from 1,000 watts right up to 3,000 watts (the latter would be extremely expensive to run for hours!). For energy savings, this is already a big hit - unlike fan heaters, Quartz heaters heat objects with infrared waves - these waves are of course completely harmless to your body, but bring your core temperature up. Fan heaters will typically heat up space a lot more quicker than radiant heaters because they're pumping out hot air to circulate directly therefore heating up the air, how ever this can quickly dissipate with drafts and open windows - radiant heating won't because of the nature of how it heats. Think of it as a more natural heating, what you'd expect from a warm sunny day out in the sun - except again, they're harmless to your skin and don't produce UV rays like the sun.Next question that comes to mind, well it's only 800watts - this isn't going to be really good heat. You'd be very wrong to think that - I've tested this little heater in my living room with 800watts (2 bars active) and the heat was amazing. Very comfortable and breathable as another bonus is, these do not dry up the air - in fact they don't work by heating up the air - which is a positive in rooms where you may have heated air escaping or your windows aren't double glazing and cold air is coming through. As with all Quartz heaters there is a little orange glow from the bars, which can be quite soothing in a comfy warm bedroom - it should be noted though, if you like to watch TV in your bedroom or have a computer in there - the glow may reflect on your TV or monitor - it's a little thing, but one to think of. These heaters are best placed in a corner and obvious safety measures need to be taken, such as making sure there is nothing blocking the heat or something that could catch fire in its way. Check everything when using these heaters, safety should always come first. If you think something is too close and is heating up fast, follow your instinct and move it to a safer location. Don't take a risk when your life could be the cost. Now let's talk energy cost. Currently in the UK we have the Energy Saving Scheme in effect. This scheme is reducing the cost of every unit of electric you use per hour by something like 17p to 19p. Every unit of electricity is 1,000watts (1kHW). Typical unit charges across the UK now range from as low as 21p to 25p. Mine is 22p so I'll base my calculation on that. If I were to burn this heater with 2 bars (800watts) for 1 hour it is roughly 18p for that hour. If I how ever, I only use 1 bar, this is now only 9p per hour. If you're buying this heater for a small space such as a bedroom, you will only need 1 bar. At 9p per hour, you can't beat this.As for the heater's longevity well that has yet to be seen. If the element bars fail I will update this as Quartz bars are intended to be reliable and long-lasting. They're meant to give around 5,000 hours of life, which equals a couple of years with daily usage.Overall, good little heater - definitely surprised at its wattage yet its capacity to warm up and keep heat going. I will however update this review to reflect any malfunction which seems to be the result of bad manufacturing. For now, it gets a thumbs up from me!

Lasted 12 hours then went POP!
I purchased this to help avoid the increased UK enegy costs. Its a 400 - 800 watt electric heater. When working it generated lots of impressive heat BUT then slowly developed straight black marks on the quartz bars. After the black marks appeared the bars started throwing out firey bits onto carpet ! Then it went POP ! Never worked again. It lasted only about 15 hours use before going pop. Don't waste your money it's clearly inferior quality and potentially very dangerous.

Instant heat
This little heater throws out a lot of heat and warms the room quickly.I would only use it to quickly take the chill off the room and then turn it off as it is not cheap to run

Staywarm when the heat bars blow out!
I was loving this heater. Was only using one bar and was heating great, using it for half a day was sufficient. Then the bar that had been heating (top bar) started cracking and hissing. Next day it burned out. This was after a month’s use. No point buying this to heat over the winter if buying new heat bars every month. Recommend anyone interested in this looks elsewhere!

Excellent value heater
This wee heater is amazing and gives off a lot of heat on just one bar so very economical too. Love it and great value - may get another although very easily transported from room to room - nice and light yet sturdy. What’s not to like?
