Tested the case, it is aluminum panels
I had read that this case was not aluminum so was real nervous about buying it. It's intended use was as a mild faraday cage for sensitive electronics. The report seemed odd to me as harbor freight sells an externally identical case which they also claim is aluminum.I performed 2 tests.Cell phone test: Dropped my cell phone in the case. Tmobile in NY metro area. In the case with the lid open 2 bars. Close the lid,and calls no longer go through. Not a panacea though. I performed the same test outdoors with 3 bars and the case no longer blocked the strongest 2 antennas. This is NOT something plastic that thin could do, except perhaps polyethylene (shopping bags, garbage cans), except paint doesn't stick to that so it would be obvious plastic.Scratch test: Picked a inconspicuous area next to a latch and intentionally scratched the paint off the panel with tool steel. Not only did it scratch the underlying metal but I could flatten one of the textured bumps with minimal effort, and the scratch was blatantly metal underneath. Shiny and grooved like guess what, brushed aluminum.Yes the panels have at least a thin layer of aluminum. (maybe more)Only disappointment was the insert tool slots are not only not elastic, but not big enough to be useful for anything other than a screwdriver. I knew this from other reviews, so fair game. Kept that panel in place and just turned it around as it helps keep the base contents in place. It does that pretty well.Rugged, functional, aluminum case. Win.

Very handy!
I did NOT receive this product for or at a discount for my biased "unbiased" review. However, I did buy this for $23.65 as a returned Warehouse item with some noted blemishes. This is a very basic carrying case overall, the inside flap is cleverly used to hold various implements at need. The cushioning on the bottom feels robust enough, but it is thin, which may be a concern depending on the item(s) that you intend to use this case for. Additional inserts may be needed, depending on your usage, to secure the item(s) from movement, which we intend to do (reviewing the provided photos should make suitability apparent to the individual).I really like this case, and see nothing wrong at all with it. It feels and appears sturdy enough to offer very reasonable protection from bumps and shifts in travel or shipping, so love the practicality and usefulness for not a lot of money. If you have super sensitive, delicate and spendy items/equipment that is subject to jostling, then you'd not be looking at this case, one would think. This would be great for carrying many items, safely. We're going to custom cut some foam for more delicate items for our upcoming move, e.g. figurines and small porcelain pieces. Packed properly, this is better than placing them into any moving boxes wrapped in paper, it's easily identifiable as opposed to a sea of boxes, too.

great little case for a clown
I bought this case to store my balloon/facepainting supplies since I am a volenteer clown and planned to modify it to meet all my needs. In the past I had to carry my large makeup case and another bag with all of my balloon supplies, not to mention my purse and lunch bag. This case allows me to combine almost everthing into one. Now I just carry this case and my lunch bag.The only fault I can find with this case is the slightly strange odor. The odor went away after I aired it out for a couple of days. The carry strap is super convenient and the latches fit tightly. Be advised that the dividers do not go all the way to the top of the case so some materials may spill into other areas. I have made new dividers that go all the way to the top out of balsa wood and it works great with the slits in the side of the case and didn't cost a lot. The sides use a type of foam with slits in it to provide the adjustable compartments so it might wear out quickly if you are storing heavy materials in the spaces.I use the top portion for my face painting supplies, but I had to make a a cover that fit over the existing tool holder to accomplish this. All in all I am very pleased and the case worked the way I hoped it would with the modification I knew I would have to make. This case can take a beating and can be used for many years.

Good for items needing moderate protection
The case seems durable and protective for transporting my glass cupping set I use for massage. The accessories panel is easy to remove and is held in place but tabs at one side and a latch at the other. At first I was disappointed because it didn’t appear asthough it would be secure enough, but then quickly changed my mind after I played around with it and realized it would hold fine. I did add some of my own foam padding for more protection because I don’t think it would prevent breakage of very fragile items. However I knew based on product description what kind of padding to expect and planned to do this anyway. My glass cups are thick like Pyrex and don’t break easily so I feel they will be protected enough with the foamI added. But if you’re looking for camera equipment protection I would invest in something comparable to a pelican case.I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5 because if the divider panels are not exactly aligned when inserted they can get stuck and easily damage the interior lining (picture included). Also it would be beneficial if wish they had included more divider panels toincrease number of compartment spacesor to be able to customize your layout better for your needs. But overall for price and protection I expected I’m satisfied
