Shimano XT Wheelset
So far they seem great. Time will tell how they hold up but they arrived on time, they are fairly light, look good and weren’t difficult setting up tubeless. I’m excited to get them out on the trails and see how they perform. Oh, and the rear hub has a nice sound to it. Not obnoxiously loud but louder than the Shimano hubs that came on my Rocky Mountain Growler.

surprisingly well built and affordable
looking for a nice set of trail wheels that wouldn't break the bank. These wheels fit the bill and the folks at Backcountry had them delivered to Hawaii really fast. For the price and the Shimano quality these are amazing

Avoid this problem rear hub & cheap wheelset.
These were nice for the 191.5 miles of use before the rear hub failed and froze up on a ride under normal riding conditions on asphalt trails. It also destroyed my XTR cassette that was also new and installed on this new rear hub. I’ve always ridden Shimano and have ridden multiple XT hubs in the past with no issues. This wheel had me limping back home for 4.5 miles in a granny gear. I was able to free up whatever froze up internally by shifting the chain into a granny gear and spinning the wheel with my crankset. No abuse or jumping—just straight up trail rides and asphalt rides for 191.5 miles according to my Stava records, and the rear hub failed. Now I’m out of an XTR 10-45 12s cassette that had 191.5 miles on it, and I need new wheels. I didn’t listen to the other negative reviews thinking they must’ve abused the wheelset, but I rode this wheelset on easy trails and paved paths since I built the bike in February of 2025.

Light and True
Great wheelset. Feel light and rigid, the pawls in this make it sound rowdy.
