A Great Compliment to a Classic Lighter
Obviously, I ordered this item to protect/store a zippo lighter that I recently purchased. About 25 years ago I purchased a similar pouch overseas and it still works perfectly after all these years. I rediscovered it recently and thought it would be nice to have a couple more for my other lighters. The older pouch I have is constucted of a very supple (black) leather that is quite soft. Because of this, you can put the entire pouch in your front pocket (if you didn't want to wear it on your belt for instance) and it works perfectly - is not bulky at all. The new pouches are made from a much stiffer leather ... think old-school gun holster leather. As such, it is not really flexible at all and because of this doesn't work well if you wanted to put it in your pocket. However, if you used it like it was designed (hanging from your belt) it is perfect. I noticed in other reviews that people were worried about the snap on the back coming undone. To prevent that from happening with my old pouch I put a small amount of superglue on the snap. Of course if you do this you will have to slide the pouch onto your belt, but it will keep it from coming undone if you are overly concerned about that issue. (The glue held for over 20 years and only recently came loose. Once I cleaned the residue off it worked like it was never there). In the end, the brown color looks very nice, seem to be very durable, and is something I would certainly buy again.

It's well made
Very well constructed easy access to your zippo. Looks great and fits on your belt. The snap fastener on the back isn't very tight so the slightest nudge will unfasten it and the case will fall off your belt. It's an easy fix though. I just took some pliers and pinched the fastener to make it go from this shape O to this shape 0. Now when the fastener snaps closed it is tight and wont fall off.

Good in concept
This case is put together well but my only gripe is that anything and everything will rip it right off your belt. The back loop of the case has a snap clasp which is great if you want to put it on say molle webbing or another loopable material, but when wearing it on your belt, be prepared to refasten it all day or you're going to lose it as the that clasp is loose. Bast that it is a beautiful case and will keep your zippo from getting damaged.

Let your Zippo travel and comfort
Even if you don't feel compelled to wear this, it serves as a good protective case if you have a Zippo that has a design you don't want getting scratched.

Is exactly as you would expect
This is for the brown pouch. It is as would be expected, leather and seems to be well made. I haven't experienced the snap issue of other users but then I wouldn't trust a snap, any snap. I will be gluing the snap and sliding it on my belt as I do anyway. I would have preferred a sewn belt loop, snaps will alway fail eventually.

Failing
Snap on it keeps popping open and I will loose my zippo lighters

Well Made
Purchased this product to carry my Zippo lighter. Pouch is well made and you can smell the he leather immediately when opening the box. Looks great also. Highly recommended.

Tried both, belt loop button and metal clip are terrible, the pouch itself is great.
Bought one of the clip and the loop version. The clip was great at first but it slowly starts to bend out with use and to form it back into place you would need to bend it in further than it can go so really can not be bent back to its original form (tried for 10 min with pliers still left a 1/4" gap), it still worked but it was a lost lighter risk so I decided to buy the one with the belt loop and button. After buying the loop version the button on the loop would constantly become unsnapped and I had to re-snap the belt loop probably a dozen times the first day wearing it making it a higher lost lighter risk than the clip version. The beltloop button is so weak it would become unsnapped when trying to open the pouch so I would have to open the pouch flap which my middle finger while holding the pouch body down with my index and ring finger because the belt loop would unsnap much easier than the lighter flap would. The button on the belt loop also ended up breaking on the second day so I have initiated a return of the pouch. I was disappointed because both pouches are great aside from the belt attachment systems so decided to try and find a way to make my original purchase worth it. I ended up taking the metal clip out of the pouch I bought originally by stretching the leather that held the clip in and sliding it out then drilling holes into the leather so that I could attach a spyderco G-clip I had lying around. Keep in mind that clip is meant for kydex knife sheiths so it only came with two sets of hardware so I had to call spyderco and they surprisingly sent me another two sets of Chicago screws and rubber gaskets. Had to drill 4 larger holes in the back of the pouch to accommodate the size of the female end of the Chicago screws and a couple smaller holes in the very front of the pouch so I can fit a small torx bit in to tighten the screws through the front. Screwed on the clip while putting the rubber gaskets in between the clip and the pouch and now it works great. The original pouch would be a 5 star product with a good clip or loop, preferably attachable without having to undo your belt, but both of the attachment methods they currently have are simply unacceptable. If you're willing to put all the effort into making it a good pouch it's worth it but keep in mind the G-clip was an extra $5 and spyderco may not send you extra hardware but I got a friendly customer service rep that wanted to help (that being said i did originally just put on the two screws the g-clip came with on the left side of the clip and that seemed fine but decided to call and get an extra set of screws to make it more solid).P.s. The original clip version still worked so I'd probably give it 3 stars because even with the bent clip it had the potential to function, but the loop version was junk and worth less than 0 stars because even before it broke it was bound to lose a lighter eventually with the weak button snap.
