Light weight plus quality
This is my second purchase of this generator. The first one drowned in Hurricane Ian but in the brief time that I owned it I was really impressed with the unit so I bought another one. Lightweight is important to me because I move it around on my boat from the storage position to the operating position. An important feature is the serviceability of this generator. I like the clamshell design for the covers on both sides. Many small generators are difficult to service, not this one. Another small factor in its favor is the fact that you can buy a cover for it for half the price of a Honda cover. The only thing that I would like to see in a future model is a 30 amp plug. Either that or an adapter which securely fits into the existing twp 15 amp sockets.UPDATE****So after about two months and thirty hours runtime, the generator began hunting and tripping out when load was increased. Champion tech service did offer to replace the carburetor but said it was backordered until November. Not wanting to wait that long, I removed all of the plastic necessary to remove the carb and cleaned it. Once reassembled, I ran the genset under load using a double dose of Seafoam per the Champion tech's recommendation. Voila! It runs perfect now. I have a couple of suggestions for Champion and/or any owner of this generator:*install an in-line fuel filter. It takes a 3/16 filter and you can buy 10 of them for $7.00 here. This is a much better solution than the fill screen supplied with the unit. You will also need about 6 inches of 3/16 fuel line since the original line is too short to simply cut and insert the filter (it will kink the line if you do this (don't ask). Champion if your listening, do this and you will dramatically reduce service calls and maybe not have to send out so many new parts under warranty.*Champion should include a listing of YouTubes regarding dismantling and troubleshooting. This will also save calls.*Champion customer service needs to have a call back option. Most people don't have an hour or more to wait for them to answer.Other than the above, this is still a best buy and at least they try to service their customers.

Was Defective out of the box - Replaced
Brand new the unit blew white smoke, very loud, CO2 too high. Called Champion and was told to continue the break in process and it should clear up. It did not, still noisy at idle(69 db at 25 feet), still smokes and smells constantly. Engine runs rough, sometimes misses. Can't return to Amazon, getting run around and delay from Champion.Update: Champion has two customer service departments. One in Canada and one in California. When I first called Champion's 800 number, the call went to Canada. They had me send a video of the unit and purchase receipt before doing anything about a return or exchange. After no callback some days later, called the number again. This time got the California main office. The rep quickly processed the proceedure for a return.Revised Update: Now instead of replacing my new unit, it was decided the carb is defective and they want to send a replacement carb saying it is easy for me to replace. Shouldn't have to replace parts myself no matter how easy it is.Champion if you read this I know why you won't replace the whole unit under warranty. I've had it 17 days. You saw my proof of purchase that Amazon sold it for $399 new. As of this writing, they are selling for $539. It is cheaper to mail me a part and do the labor than replace the whole unit.2nd revision update: Maybe someone at Champion read about my dissapointment. Next day, I received an email they will now replace the whole generator.3rd revision update: Received replacement. After 4th hour of break in, the gen got louder at idle and smoking. After 5th hour, pulled spark plug. It's fouled. Replaced spark plug and unit is quiet and little smoke. I suspect this replacement is bad too but I'm done. Put it in the garage. I only bought for a power outage, but spent too much time with break ins, CO2 issues, and noise higher than 70db at 25 feet.5 stars are for customer service only.

Nice backup plan
Purchased in 2021 and for the first 2 years I never needed it. I would pull it out 2 times a year to test it. Run clean gas through it, check the oil, and put a load on it for 30 mins. I thought it was $500 of cheap insurance, bought on sale, inspired by paranoia. The generator pull starts pretty easy and is quieter than you would think, although not as quiet as you would want. Unit is very lite and easy to move around and store. So far easy to service and maintain.Late march 2023 we had a storm which damaged the power line to our house and we’re told we’d be more than 3 days without power. This unit has been very good on gas. I was able to power a fridge, sump pump, dehumidifier, modem and router 12 hours a day. Also was able to power the furnace or water heater when needed by turning off the other items. Capacity is good enough for short periods if you prioritize your loads, a larger capacity unit would be more convenient. If your buying this purchase a good long cord meant for generators with the GFCI power strip at the end. It maybe expensive but you won’t waste time plugging and unplugging this all the time and won’t have cords running every which way. I would recommend this unit, perhaps would advise more toward the 3300watt unit rather than the 2500 watt one.A couple of notes. Follow all setup instructions. Also if you are powering a device which requires a bonded ground ( a modern gas furnace for example). The 2500 watt unit I purchased has a floating neutral wire (the white wire in a normal outlet, this is normally bonded to ground in your electrical panel) for some items it may require you to bond the ground(green) and the neutral(white) together at the appliance. This generator provides a ground lug which should be connected force safety. There are instructions in the manual, consult an electrician if needed. It is possible to damage an appliance or create a dangerous situation if things are not grounded properly.
