Amazed as to how it holds up after 3 years of regular use
I decided to write this review simply to point out how durable this toy after owning it after almost 3 years of continuous use. At the time of purchase, my 5 yo boy was obsessed with the solar system and this quickly became a favorite. The interest in the solar system has had its ups and downs but has remained present for the most part and with it, the regular use of this toy. We are amazed mostly at how it has held up given that while my son (who again has used this from age 5y to almost 8yo now) plays with it as it is probably intended, our 3yo daughter has become interested in it too and is much more rough with it and the toy still holds its shape and functions. Two of the longer purple arms have very slight bends on them i.e. Uranus and Neptune; the paint is barely scratched at all, the electronics work fine (although neither of them were ever too interested in that feature). All in all, our personal experience is this has been a very sturdy and durable toy

An excellent gift for a very fair price
I bought this kit to give to my 4 year old grandson on his birthday. He loves learning about the solar system and the planets. He LOVES it! It was very easy for his father and him to assemble. He enjoyed listening to the disc with the facts and projecting the images on the wall. The voice is very clear, whether he is speaking in English or Spanish. (A simple switch changes the language being spoken). The toy helped my grandson understand the concept of the planets rotating around the Sun. Because it was his birthday he had many toys to play with; he kept going back to this one. I would highly reccomend.

Great little toy, english voice recording needs work.
This was a reward for some sight words for my 6 year old. He is crazy about the solar system and this simple toy made his day. The biggest issue I have and the reason for the negative star is the mans voice for english that is recording has an accent. For children that are working on learning English I don't think listening to this recording is a good teaching tool for them. At least the spanish speaking one sounds spanish, but since I cant speak it I have no idea if it's correct. The size is perfect, he can put it on his cub storage and it was very easy to put together for my 6 year old. Overall it's a very cute toy.

Engaging the Mind
Easy to put together, fun to identify the planets and our 6 yr old granddaughter takes it out to study all the time. She loves the light up feature.

cheap and frustrating
As many reviewers have written the most important feature, the lightbulb inside the 'sun' does not work or project. When first assembling the light worked for a few minutes but the images were too blurry to make out. Then when trying to adjust the slide or focus the image, the light went and never was able to get it to work again. The audio is very poorly done. Facts are very general about each planet. Nothing about distace from sun, length of rotation or specific facts to engage a young learner. Very dissapointed with this product. My grandson was ready to learn lots of facts and develop a better understanding of how our world fits into the solar system. All we are left with is a cheap but colorful model that is not interactive or informative. Do better please.
