Erin HunterWarriors: Dawn of the Clans Box Set: Volumes 1 to 6

A prequel series for the Warrior cat books. I prefer reading in release order instead of timeline order, BUT this works well as a first exposure to the Warriors series! There are small references of the series in DotC (Dawn of the Clans), but they aren't necessary to know to fully enjoy the arc.DotC has the same flaws as the other Warriors arcs, inconsistencies in the writing between books. Despite that, I consider this to be the best Warrior cats arc because of the characters. Almost every character feels fully realized. Not everyone gets screen time, but they still feel interesting and memorable. Everyone has their own goals and motivations, which at times clash.My biggest gripe is that the writing feels like they ran out of room. It feels like they had ambitions for a 2nd arc but were told otherwise.
