Great, just about perfect
I already had a version that was not brushless that is still running strong but wanted to get this one, and Makita does not disappoint. This one feels smoother and can go faster I believe, and it is all I can ask for. Functions great and feels nice to hold, and if it is even better than the brushed version, this should last me forever.

While you're waiting for yours to show up, a little time on YouTube may save some cognitive dissonance. What had been a (to-me much-missed) lockout switch on older models is now a speed-range selector and the shoe-adjustment lock is now a lever instead of buttons. Some reviewers have complained about that lever breaking. Dunno how -- especially if you're working two-handed -- and I won't be doing research.As for the rest of the tool, it's a brushless Makita and even has a rafter hook. Nufsed.

Makita quality
I used it with a 12 inch pruning blade to cut down three palm trees that had 14 inch diameter trunks. Great tool.

First rate reciprocating saw...
Makita XRJ05ZThis is my third reciprocating saw (Porter Cable & Milwaukee) and by far the best one ever. The only weakness is the front lever used to adjust the stop plate. It should NOT be made of plastic (nylon?). Aluminum or steel would be a big improvement. I'll just have to be careful to not break it off...
