Pretty impressed for the value option
There are a bunch of options for a lawn sprinkler timer and most of them are pretty similar. The challenge was finding one of a good value that was easy enough to use, reliable (not leaky), and fit my fairly simple needs.YES, you can control your timer from anywhere you have Internet access. I turned mine on from my brother's house 1500 miles away. It also tells you when the last session was and when the next is. You can turn it on ad hoc for however long you set. You can also turn it on for 10 minutes at a time with a single button press at the unit. The unit was easy to connect to the hub which was easy to setup with the SmartLife app which I already had for other devices. It's very easy to use and easy to set schedule and duration on a weekly calendar. My only minor complaint is that it can sometimes be slow to update in the app even though the changes take effect at the unit right away. When first connecting the unit, I used the included teflon tape and installed hand tight as usual. It had some minor dripping at first but when I went out the next day the dripping had stopped and I haven't seen any since (a few months now). If you have a backflow preventer pin protruding from your hose bib you may need to get creative with the included filter screen or just remove it altogether. Unfortunately those pins are not very friendly to add on devices like this.I've been very happy especially for the price. Not only does it work on command and as promised, it also survived both a scorching 109 degree heat and drought, as well as a torrential rain and wind without any issues. At the offered price I would have been happy to get one season out of it, but thankfully its been flawless. Once the lawn goes dormant, I'll pack it away until the spring and start all over again.

Good product, easy to use
Even with setting alarms on my phone, there have been a few days I’ve turned it off with the intention to go right out and got distracted. Even with heat-loving plants, it’s been way too hot this summer. An automatic timer I can forget about or adjust as needed with the added bonus of not needing to go out in the heat myself sounded like a good solution. It comes with everything you need, including batteries and plumber’s tape. So far no leakage. The app was easy to set up and use, I just wish it looked a little cleaner. I do like that the forecast is shown in the app, no need to switch apps to check as you make adjustments. We had one instance of rain and being able to set a delay for the watering without completely turning it off (and forgetting to turn it back on) was helpful. As far as durability goes, it’s not under direct sun (just the heat) so it’s difficult to judge how long it will last. It’s plastic, but a little heavier than some I’ve picked up in store. The battery compartment is accessible at the bottom of the device, which contains a tray holding the batteries for extra protection. I haven’t had to change them yet, but I did check them after a few days to see if it was dusty (I live in the dusty desert) and they were fine, so I feel comfortable when we do enter the rainy season.A heads up, it uses 2.4 GHz wifi, not 5 GHz. My router allows me to split it into both so I was able to connect, but someone less tech-savvy may not know how to do this or if their router is even capable of doing so. There was a note in the manual to email their customer service for help if needed.Overall, it was an easy device to set up and has been a (plant) lifesaver so far. If it lasts the rest of the season, I’ll be purchasing another when I work on my garden in the front yard.

Hassle to set up but finally OK
Instructions a bit unclear if unfamiliar with details-especially fact that in the app (set up FIRST) you HAVE to set up wifi etc. FIRST otherwise you’re stuck with local Bluetooth only! So you set up app then add + in (my case) Smart Water Timer (with batteries installed) inside the house. Both apps are relatively slow to install. Wifi hub should be maybe <30 feet away from timer and less if your wall is brick, as we have. The hub controls the timer via bluetooth. Test test test. I shut off wifi and walked a block away (with timer hooked into a hose) and tested over cellular- SUCCESS!. On then off. Water evidence showed it worked on my driveway. If, as we do have a splitter downstream of timer, you will have to tweak (drip/spray) until entire system is running as water pressure will change a bit with each additional emitter is online, 1 by 1. It’s very cool (if complex) after using timers for years.

Too complex
Too complex to connect it with my phone... decided to buy a regular one with battery.... Easy and reliable.... Do your research before buying it
