Works perfectly!
This review is for GE SunSmart Digital in-Wall Timer 32787. Easy to install. Make sure your electrical box has a neutral wire before ordering. Installed this to control our front porch light. The light has a photocell in it but is in an area that gets little sunlight especially on cloudy days, so it sometimes stays on all day. This switch solved that problem. We live in the Pacific Northwest so have very long dusk and dawn. Dusk and dawn don't really describe when the light should be turned on and off. It should be sunrise and sunset which would better describe when the light should cycle. Set ours to turn on 5 minutes before sunset and turn off 5 minutes after sunrise. Just Google to find when sunset and sunrise times are in your area. FYI, dusk and dawn times are not the same as sunset and sunrise times. Not sure why all the complaints about programming. I had no issues at all programming the switch following the instructions provided. To avoid frustration, make sure to read and understand the instruction before installing, setting up and programming the switch. The instructions are actually very well written. I found it was easy too setup and program. There is one major error in the instructions which could be confusing. Right above "A. Programming the ON/OFF days" it states "Setting the dawn/dusk region (zone):". This line should not be there and describes the previous step.Main thing is, don't confuse the "PRG" button with the "SET" button. The "SET" button is only used for initial setup of Time, Year, Month, Day, DST (on/off), Zone, Dusk (time), Dawn (time) and to select and set to memory settings in the programing steps. For programming there are 7 "PRG" that can be used. I only used "PRG 1" since all I want is to turn the light on and off at sunset and sunrise and nothing more. Press "PRG" until the PRG number you want to use is displayed and then press "SET". Now select the days using the arrow keys. There are 6 preprogrammed to use or also individual days. I used the one that displayed "MO, TU, WE, TH, FR, SA, SU", and pressed "SET" too select it. Then using the arrow key to scroll to "DUSK" for the on time and press "Set" which than goes to the off time. Then using the arrow key scroll to "DAWN" and pressed "SET". That's it, programming completed. It may be a good idea to make sure PRG 2-7 are empty of all settings if you do the same type of setup as I did.Found it was easy to program the switch on the workbench before actually installing it in the electrical box. The back light does not turn on if not installed but the LCD screen is still easy to read. Also, the instruction sheet that comes with the switch requires a microscope to read. Googled the part number and found the online PDF instruction sheet. It too has pretty small print. Used my computer and zoomed in on the pages needed, took screen shots and printed them so they could be read clearly during setup and programming.

Great, great item!
My stepson, who is more knowledgeable than myself installed it in 20 minutes set up all the presets and it has been working wonderfully. It changes with the time so we don’t have to make all those adjustments constantly. Highly recommended.

Fantastic way to control outdoor lights.
What a great addition to our home.I just installed it to control our outdoor lights. Previously, I had a sensor with the bulbs, but these are clunky, don't work too well, and would detract from our beautiful lights. We have them set to go on 15 minutes after dusk and off at 15 minutes before dawn. The only thing that could be better if the instructions were clearer. But, I was able to speak with someone at GE, who walked me through it quite well. So, overall, excellent product that I recommend.

Blue Background Light
It took me once or twice to set it up, but it was pretty simple and it works great. My question is can the blue light always stay lit up. When working on it the blue light stays bright and blue when done it fades away. Or is that the way it supposed to work? Looking to keep blue light on all time. Not a problem if it can’t.

This Little Gem Eliminated the Hubble Porch Photocell !!!
Our porch light is located within deep shadows, so a photocell wasn't getting the job done here on cloudy days.Even the patented Mk II Hubble Light-Gathering Foil Reflector, (combined with some shamefully dodgy wiring), wasn't able to reliably re-establish communications with Mr. Sun and turn off the outdoor lights each morning.Enter the SunSmart, a device which uses sophisticated celestial mechanics modeling and predictive analytics developed by leading NASA scientists to look beyond the confines of our tiny world to the most closely-guarded secrets of the entire solar system!!!Well, not really, but its timer circuit will compensate for local variations in sunrise and sunset times throughout the course of the year, which is good enough to get the job done for considerably less than the cost of a mission to outer space.Personally, my only complaint with this little gem is that magical thinking won't get the job done here folks. Yes, that means you need to follow All of the programming instructions. This means that after setting up the date and time and all the basics to follow Ra's daily journey over your locale, you Still have to program the device to turn On at Dusk and Off at Dawn.Only then can you rest in the great happiness and contentment which will surely accompany such a significant accomplishment.

Horrid Programming
Easy to install, except that I had to buy and install a deeper box first, but the wiring was straightforward. Programming the location, date, etc. was easy. HOWEVER, programming the on-off days and times was incredibly frustrating - an hour and a half, and I'll have no idea until nightfall if I even have it right. I spent 45 minutes trying to program it and was at wit's end by the time my wife came home. Another 45 minutes and we were both at wit's end. You set Program 1 for seven days a week. Then onto setting the on time - set it to come on at dusk, then on to setting the off time, but you can't get a time to display. I could set dawn or dusk, but for the life of me I couldn't get to setting a specific off time, like 10:00 PM. Then you notice that it's only setting the off time for Tu (or W, or Th, it seems to be random), even though you'd already set it for seven days. Then you think you are following the directions and next thing you know you're on Program 2 instead. DON'T BUY THIS UNLESS YOU WANT A TICKET TO AN INSANE ASSYLUM. The instructions are pathetically bad. The on-off directions are not in order. Another example: the heading "Setting the dawn/dusk region/zone" is at the top of two consecutive sections, one of which is actually "Setting On-Off Days and Times." Did anyone even read and edit these instructions???? I wrote and edited documents for two decades - this is purely pathetic.
