SCREEN IS AWFUL
Not sure if these ones being sold on amazon are bad batches, however the screen connection in the images and the actual product are different, looked to try and save my project by buying a different ips displaynas the screen tearing is absolutely disgusting, however the connections are different, false advertisement with images is still false advertisement change your images on here, will be returning this as I am disgusted in the quality of the of the screen, sure it is a budget project however the screen makes it totally unusable, will not recommend this to anyoneOther notes.Volume for audio is awkward to access as must be accessed through onscreen menu with very awkward and backwards buttons.Audio maxed sounds awful and isn't loud at all.Start and select are backwardsAnalog stick has massive throw and make games that use d-pad awkward to play.Clicky buttons however not in the satisfying way.Avoid this product try to but pigrrl on ebay, much more satisfactory for the extra penny

Fun little device
Not very ergonomic but a fun little device to turn a Raspberry Pi in to a mini handheld games console.

Good buy for hobbyists
I loved it. Needs something around the outer edge to protect the internal component's tho

Ergonomic disaster, otherwise would have been awesome retro gaming machine
Great to fit a pi into this when I had it, worked well but really uncomfortable to play, so I sold mine after only a week, nice little project to make up, nice and easy, but playability was let down by the ergonomic design, too thick and awkward, I wouldn't recommend it, but each to there own, I was disappointed in the end, I paid a lot more for this when it came out, about double the price, so it is more reasonable now.

Screen lacks V-sync - Tearing galore
Let me start off with the positives first...It transforms your PI 1/2/3 into a fully portable handheld. Great concept but has its flawsMajor flaw is in the HDMI screen. Quality is great, but it lacks Vsync. What does this mean? Tearing and wobbling of games that scroll in particular. The screen is not synchronised and writes to the screen occur in a diagonal fashion. This is not related to software config setup either. I connected the display to a PC, a Wii-u and a nintendo switch and they all suffer from the tearing issue. This practically makes clean scrolling games impossible on this deviceSecond major issue is the horrible analog pad. It can be extremely sensitive to registering left or right (even when just using up or down on the stick) it is annoyingI don't know if there may be a possibility for v-sync to somewhat be activated with some specific screen resolution or config, but this does not seem to be the case on various resolutions that I have tried. If you want a kit that transforms your PI into a fully portable device and don't mind the screen tearing or iffy analog stick, then it is a good purchase. Otherwise steer clear.

Retro Delight: A Review of the Waveshare Game HAT for Raspberry Pi 4
Calling all retro gaming enthusiasts and Raspberry Pi tinkerers! The Waveshare Game HAT is a fantastic way to transform your Raspberry Pi into a classic handheld gaming console. Here's why it deserves a spot in your retro revival kit:**Classic Console Experience in a Modern Package:**The Game HAT boasts a gorgeous 3.5-inch IPS display with a crisp 480x320 resolution, ensuring smooth gameplay for your favorite retro titles. The integrated speaker and headphone jack deliver that familiar retro audio experience, completing the immersive feel.**Power and Play (with a Tiny Battery):**The Game HAT draws power directly from your Raspberry Pi, eliminating the need for an external power source. While the 18650 lithium battery (not included) enables some on-the-go gaming, keep in mind its capacity might limit extended unplugged sessions.**Easy Assembly, Endless Fun:**Setting up the Game HAT is a breeze. Simply connect it to your Raspberry Pi using the included GPIO pins, and you're ready to load your favorite emulators and ROMs. The included buttons and joystick provide a comfortable and responsive control scheme, perfectly suited for classic arcade and console titles.**A Note on Software Setup:**While the hardware setup is straightforward, installing the necessary emulators and ROMs requires some technical know-how. Thankfully, there are many online tutorials and resources dedicated to setting up Raspberry Pi for retro gaming, making it easier to navigate the software side of things.**The Verdict: A Fun and Functional Retro Fix**The Waveshare Game HAT is a winning combination of classic console nostalgia and modern tech. The sharp display, comfortable controls, and ease of assembly make it a great option for gamers who want to relive their retro favorites on a portable platform. With a little software tinkering, you can have a treasure trove of classic games at your fingertips. Just remember to factor in the need for a separate battery and a bit of technical know-how for software setup.

Alles in allem gut.
