Must have!
Great to expand vocabulary by learning rules (as opposed to memorizing words)

MUCH BETTER THAN BIG RED BOOK SERIES
As a prof of Spanish, useful, quality resources are hard to find. This text is excellent for all levels of learners seeking to increase their vocab in español. Highly recommended.

Great overall
This book has 150 chapters, each with two exercises (about 10 questions a piece.) That covers 150 concepts, like -ada, -ente, -al, -doro, -ido. Each chapter introduces you to about 20 new words, shows you what verb stem they are built from, and gives you sentences to place these words into.Unlike other PMP books, there is no translation. That is a bit sad. Each new vocabulary word is only used in one exercise, because the second exercise introduces another 10 or dozen words with the same suffix. This gives it a superficial run through, but a superficial run through of 3,000 vocabulary words and adding meaning to 150 suffixes isn't a bad thing. I use this book for 10 minutes a day, in conjunction with some "heavier" practice books that focus on grammar and verb tenses. This is a quick, easy book, but meaningful in that it shows you so many new vocabulary words. I enjoy it, I just also secretly wish there was English-to-Spanish translation activities to make my learning more active. I think I may go back and assign myself the task of using these vocabulary words in a sentence, to get that last step of practice from this book.

Tu necesita el libro!
It is a well written book. We just need a lot more practice to ever be near perfect!

Charts Are Difficult to Read
I have several books by this author. Most of them, if not all, I have given up on because the charts are difficult to see even when you long-press on the chart to bring up the magnifying glass. This ruins a lot of the book because some of the information relates to the chart. In addition to this problem, the charts are also light and sometimes blurry. It's possible that if the charts weren't so light, I might be able to read them better. I know there is a new version of this book, but I am not going to buy it again. I have several of these books because I kept buying them, hoping that the charts would get better - but no. This did not happen. I am disappointed. There has to be a way. If I find a way, I will update my review and rating. Thank you.

Not quite up to par
I've gotten a lot out of the other Spanish books by Dorothy Richmond. This was a bit of a disappointment. Many of the words don't seem that common. I checked the first 10 pages of the book against my Spanish-English dictionary and half weren't listed in the dictionary. I realize the idea is to grow your vocabulary, but it left me unsure whether this would increase my vocabulary or make my Spanish sound formal or affected. It would take a lot of memorization to get much out of this book with so many words on each page and so few practice exercises. Perhaps it works as a reference book or for those fascinated by word origins. Not panning it, just saying it didn't work for me.

Four Stars
Good book but a lot of errors

Not for Spanish 1 or beginning learners!
You must have a large vocabulary to use this book. It's a great concept because learning suffixes are key to building vocabulary but as a teacher I'd say this is best for high school Spanish 3 or 4 or college level 2.
