8yr old loved it!
Great lessons, easy to check for correct answers. Stories are not long but engaging so my son's ADHD didn't affect him. Almost every time he read a lesson he said "Really... Is that true? I didn't know that, cool.“ at least once. Then he would proceed to engage me and my wife with what he learned... He was even able to “did you know" his older sister a few times. We will be looking for more.

Great book for a school aged child to learn with
This is part of a great series of books that are aimed at age ranges from 2nd grade up to high school. They couple short passages with questions regarding the student's ability to comprehend and understand what they have read.

Very Useful, Top Quality
This series is excellent for teaching reading test-taking skills in a meaningful way. The one page of text and half-dozen questions look manageable to the student, yet are challenging enough that students will learn to read the questions carefully, look for evidence in the text, plot information to analyze, etc. Topics are very interesting, and questions cannot be answered by students' general background knowledge... they quickly learn to refer to the text, actively analyze the information, and make connections. The author, Debra Housel, has gift for making truly useful materials!

I bought this book for my son who's is 4th grade to practice reading comprehension. What I like the most about it is that it after the multiple choice questions, it asks the student to write their opinion about something related to the story and why they think that way. It makes them think about what they just read, and gives them the opportunity to express their personal thoughts about a topic.

not thick, but content looks good
Not a thick book, but what is there looks good. Will be enough lessons to get my 4th grade homeschooler through reading comprehension for the remainder of schoolyear, combined with Scholastic Success with Reading Comprehension. At the top of every page it tells you a science or social studies standard covered on that page. It's nice to get both reading comprehension and science and social studies learning at the same time: 2 for 1.

Excellent source of vocabulary for kids abroad
My family lives in South Korea and my 9 year old daughter has been doing this Nonfiction Reading Comprehension series since returning from the States 3 years ago. This workbook, with other language art and reading comprehension workbooks, helps a lot for the girl keep up with the US curriculum and learn new vocabulary.
